Get Down (or Up) [low kpbs 160, poor quality to fit]

This is the first 7 minutes of an otherwise 10 1/2 minute track.

Enjoy or not.

Nice work there!

This is absolutely stunning! I love it how you make different beats to the music, very catchy.
Sometimes the music just takes me somewhere like it is dragging me to it! Thumbs up man for doing a hard work. =]

Lapse responds:

Thanks man :D

good work

I don't know ..... i feel like something is missing
and this is not Jazz

but i like it

This is what has been missing by you lately.

That return to the smooth, stylistic style that hooked me onto your music so many years ago.

The way you fused that repeating bassline with all of the different elements of the song as it progressed, that just so amazing. I say it a lot, but your music always manages to take me somewhere. While other artists worry about applying the impact as soon as possible, you lightly dust your songs with different elements, almost as if you know it will all come together and hit the listener when it's all over. While other artists concern themselves with constant, unexpected changes in their music, you stick to theme and variation with your sound.

This is now one of my favorite songs by you.

Nice man, just now seeing this.

Thanks for the review. I worked a damned long time on this piece. I ended up losing the work file - killed me. I had wanted to make more changes to this, smooth some volume things out mainly. I never did get to finish and wrap up the final 3 minutes of this track. I'll figure something out for its full release. I try and guide listeners on a journey, familiar, yet unknown. I appreciate your kind words, it's really wonderful to have someone listen and enjoy what I try and bring to the table.

NOT Jazz.

As VGM or maybe techno this would have had a better score, but if you're asking me to listen to an 8bit synth and an extremely repetitive riff, and call it Jazz, there's no way I'm going to pretend I'm happy about it. I'll give you the exception of the break from 2:10 to 2:18, but after that the beat just went back to a standard 4/4 with no syncopation.

Biggest mark of jazz: "1 a-hand 2 a-hand 3 a-hand 4 a-hand" is how you count the time. You just had "1 and 2 and 3 and 4" standard march time. Sorry to be blunt about it, but it's just not Jazz.

Lapse responds:

Technical wankery.

Touching on various influence and really not trying to be any of them. This is filed in the Miscellaneous category, which should've offered a chance for you to calm down and focus on the music itself. I understand the attitude and essence of Jazz. It's simply a spice.

Review the music next time instead of complaining so heavily about something that doesn't matter.
