Not bad at all.

It's very good, and extremely catchy, even though it was a bit bland in terms of instrumentation, meaning that it could use more depth to it, especially in the background synths, which were way too faint for my liking. The intro and outro were both great though, besides the fact of the lack of instrumentation. Melodies were original throughout, and there was a great sense of variety along the song, with just enough repetition to keep the user feeling that he knows the song, but enough variety to keep the user thinking that he doesn't know it enough (if that makes sense lol). Transitions were mostly smooth as heck, so no problems there. Drums could've done with a bit more variety though, as they got a tad repetitive towards the end. Other than that, great song, loads of potential, keep it up!

SCORE:
Intro = 2/2
Outro = 2/2
Blend = 1/2
Transitions = 3/3
Bass = 1/2
Originality = 2/3
Drums = 1.5/2
Melodies = 3.5/4

Thanks for that :)

It's good, but needs more.

Alright I'm going to start with the instrumentation. It's alright, by that it's good, but something seems to be missing from it, but I can't pinpoint what. The flute-sounding synth seemed to be lacking some juice to it, give it more oomph!

Composition: It's very good, and extremely catchy, but due to the instrumentation missing something, the progression of the song has the illusion of going nowhere, when it's obvious that it's certainly going somewhere (if that makes any sense).

For the mastering and EQ, it's alright, the melodies are brought out quite nicely, but that damned flute (or organ) synth seems just to be lurking in the back. bring it out a bit more!

All in all, that flute/organ synth is what gets it for me, put more oomph to it and bring it out more and that might fix the entire song.
Good work!

FairSquare responds:

Thank you :)

Cool

First thing that hits me is it's got a very "confident" attitude if you can say that about a song. A strong, consistent theme with interesting variations. I really like the melody during the part from 0:50 to 1:03. The percussion fill right after that is cool too. Nice timing. The strongest part of this song is definitively the melodic content.

The mix and overall sound is where things could well be improved. The mix is a bit dry and not very tight. The drum kit sounds pretty bland in my opinion. And as far as I could hear, the piano sound isn't all that interesting, either (it might actually be a very realistic, killer piano sound but in that case I couldn't hear it:). That synth in the intro is a bit, erm... fruity, but the detuned lead sound is great! I'd love to hear some real shredding on that synth! Like a synth solo or something :)

But anyway, GOOD LUCK IN THE FIGHT SIR, THERE WILL BE BLOOD

FairSquare responds:

Damn, i take too long to respond to reviews.
Anyway, you are right. I gotta start learning producing better.
Thanks for the review. Blood will be shed indeed.
;)

Good rhythm!

I like the synths chosen! :D Together they have a very nice sound. Along with an interesting beat, and the piano was refreshing! My favorite part is around 1:50 with the intro of the new synth. It has a slightly different style than what I'm used to hearing from you..but man! I'm liking it. It has a good variety of...sound, like nothing sounds too repetitive or dull at all, I mean I could listen to this several times straight XD Excellent mixing too. Listening to this is very pleasant ":)

FairSquare responds:

Thanks! :)
I really do my best to prevent my songs from being boring :p
What to say, what to say? I don't know :p
Just, thank you :)
