well 'ard haha

I've been playing the hell out of this genre lately. You seem to recognize the formula but i think you can hone in on your synth sounds and your drum samples. Although collectively the song sounds great small changes will make this iconic dubstep and bring it to the next level.

For example your kick could use a replacement or some eq'ing to get rid of some of those un wanted artifacts and frequencies. Altho on looping the track it sounds like you may have added a rimshot on the same hits as the kick-personally I find it an undesirable effect when the mix is primarily drums. But in the entire mix the rimshot helps draw out the kick hits. Another way to do this is to grab some high end in a narrow band where the "pedal" freq is hitting the drum head typically around 1k (hope that made sense).

One more personal opinion: the bass line sounds cool and I enjoy it, but when looking for a dubstep sound I want more distinct wobble and low end control versus your high ends. This balance is drawing the line between the pros and newbies, IMO. Try experimenting with filter types and settings, focus especially on LFO modulating the freq cut off, and also on envelope settings-mostly att and sus.

I wish I had some of my work up so we could bounce ideas off each other as I am just getting into dubstep creation myself and haven't had time to upload. Sorry for the long review as well.

Keep it wildstyle,
~JAG

Long review is fine. This is one of my older pieces, so of course, you know when you make something and you think "This is amazing!" and then you listen later and it's all "Wtf this is bad". It happens to every single song you make.
