Bad
Just a slow electronic groove that I made while taking a break from a bigger project. All of the synths in this were live recordings, and the tune at the end was an improvisation. I'll probably come back to this song later because I feel like I could have gone farther with it. It feels like a buildup. As always, reviews are appreciated!
Bad
Dark, and surprisingly awesome.
This was really way cool. When the synths first came in I had my doubts because they kinda sounded detuned and strange, but as the song went on and other parts came in, it all came together really nicely. Digging the bass there. Also when the beat came in I thought it was a little... stale with just the little beat and the bass, but after the other parts came in it worked nicely.
Just a suggestion, you should vary your beat, the same kind of non-linear beat like this gets kind of boring over an extended period of time.
Also I have to say that I don't think this song fits within "Trance". The big thing that defines the different styles of a lot of electronica/techno is the beat. Your beat is not trance, but actually sounds somewhat reminiscent of a marching drumline. I think this would be better suited in just the "Techno" genre. Or if there was an "Electronica" genre, it would be perfect.
Anyway, I'd love to see this finished, maybe with a few different leads and melodies intertwining, that would be sweet. Keep it up dude!
Thanks for the great review! I put the weird synths in the beginning because I think they really set the mood I was going for.
The drumline and transitions are two big parts that I want to work on, I agree that more variation would be better. I think I got kind of lazy using the same one for the whole song.
About the genre, I've noticed that most of my songs fit more under "General Electronica" than anything else, but since that's not a choice I have to pick trance, techno, etc. Plus, trance songs seem to get more hits in less time than other songs do.
I'm a huge fan of your work by the way, I did a double take when I saw that you left me a review :D
Interesting
Well like you said it sounds like a build up, which is very true. However I do believe that if you took the time you could really make something out of this. I really do enjoy the lead btw.
I'm glad you liked the lead, it took me a while to find a synth to use, and I like how it turned out. I'll definitely be coming back to this when I have a little more experience and skill.
Thanks for the review!
Please contact me if you would like to use this in a project. We can discuss the details.
