Someone described this as "Chrono Trigger in space", which I think might be the only way to briefly explain what it sounds like. Unlike most of my music, I didn't have a specific scene or emotion in mind when I started writing it. I decided that I wanted it to sound spacey (and Mitsuda-ish), but beyond that, I just wanted to take it wherever I felt it should go (which apparently is all over the place :D). My conscious inspirations were the soundtracks from Chrono Cross, StarFox, and Mario Galaxy. As usual, the instrument samples are from various SNES games.

Full of rich, Earthboundy goodness.

Pongball responds:

I should probably play Earthbound one of these days, shouldn't I? :P

Chrono Galaxy

I hereby dub this song a grand mixture of Mitsuda and driving symphony goodness. The space synth driving section really send the track over the top; I can imagine ships flying underneath some space cadet running from one battle station to the next or even could see this fitting perfectly into a DLC content pack for Mario Galaxy 2.

It sounds professional; it's unique, it's creative, it's brilliant. Be proud of your masterpiece! While some may not like this style, you sampled a bit from the primary nostalgic SNES genres of yesteryear and buffed it into musical gold. I think anyone should be able to hear that.

My only complaint? It ends!
Thankfully, Newgrounds defaults on repeat! All glory to the Hypnotoad!

"Chrono Trigger in space" YUP

i gave it a very biased 7. because this is not my fav style of music to listen to. but it is basically an exemplary interpretation of the 'epic' game genre.

voted 5 because dammit make more!

Pongball responds:

Haha, that's okay. I respect your different musical tastes even though they're wrong. :D

(just joking, of course)

I have to say, I really do like this piece.
What I find most interesting about it is that while still being a spacy and almost adventurous sounding piece, it also combines that of a kind of RPG like town theme. It ends up very much like that of the music of a stage of Mario Galaxy. If anything it certainly gives off a planetary feel.

Though it some places it does seem like too many instruments are going at once. It doesn't detract much from the piece as a whole, but is noticeable.

Pongball responds:

Thanks a lot for the feedback. :)
