Easy Listening - Jazz

Author Comments

Recorded on Sonar.

A sort of simple jazz recording of different melodies played over each other on a multi-track. Please note, I sort of lost it at 52, but the ending isn't half bad. I just like how it came out. I am thinking about recording more like this either later this summer or next school year... I love just improvising jazz... even more than playing written stuff.

One day I might take the multi-track apart and try to write a song using bits of it... I guess this was more of a rough draft than much more.

I really think the swing style is something Newgrounds doesn't have a lot of... the sort of 1920's jazz just catches me a lot... I hope to play more things like it.

I don't know man

It felt so random. It had no structure. A drum or something would have made it easier to recognize a rythm, but this felt like just random farting in a trombone. It reminded me of vuvuzela's.

It's nice that you played the trombone, but the improvising is not necessarily something good. I'd love to hear you with some structure and melody :o

I'm afraid I don't know any drummers who are willing to record with me... I recently did a recording of a new arrangement with a baritone, a piano, and a trombone... I would say it has a bit more structure. Jazz is a more 'free-form' genre... especially in solo sorts.

Thank you for your advice. I'll be on the lookout for percussionists who don't mind recording for jazz.

Jazz is much needed here

Newgrounds is mostly full of techno, techno, and more techno! It isn't always bad but it's great to have someone balance all the techno with something a little more classic and stylish! I would add more than synthesized music myself if I had a great way to record but sadly I haven't a clue where to start for anything like that. However, great job on the song. It's a great solo but would do better to have some bass and drums in it but otherwise, pretty good keep it up!

samulis responds:

Thanks for the comment. :)

As I said this song is nothing close to finished if I can get more time to work on it and such. I hope to bring back old-fashioned jazz to the site.
