I don't know, I was playing around with my vst then I realized I like the sound. I'm like this kinda of sounds spooky ooo. I so I decided to make a spooky melody. Yeah I know I should be working on full songs, but I don't feel like it. I just want to mess around. Yes music theory, blah blah blah. I just want o make melodies and be creative. Music is my way of expressing my creativity. I am an amateur that's why I am on newgrounds. I barely know any pros that are NG. Come on.

There is a lot more to make good song.

-good lyrics/good singer
-sound engineering aka mastering the audio to make it sound good
-Attracting your listener with the intro

Why did I start making music because I got bored of mainstream and top 40? So many people hate? You wonder why your not famous? well, nobody likes your music that's all I am going to say. Don't hate. I don't hate. If I don't like the song, I'll be okay I'll listen to something else. I do hate trance though and american pop. Especially chinese music! BOTH MY PEOPLES ARE IN THE DARK AGES OF MUSIC RIGHT NOW!

I'm following you.

I am very interested in seeing how you evolve.

In my opinion, your head is in the correct place. What you lack in theory and structure you make up for with hunger and a positive outlook in regards to becoming a better composer, and I respect that. Just keep in mind to not completely balk at the idea of delving more into music theory once you've sated the need to build up a slew of engineered sounds. Judging by this simple melody when compared to other songs you've submitted, you're getting a basic feel for what notes sound good together...that's like 75% of the battle right there.

I'm gonna take a shot in the dark and guess this is 75-76bpm? Do this: Loop this shit. Take your kick drum patch and make a simple 4/4 beat over it(one kick sound per quarter note. You should end up with 22 kick sounds in a sequence before the loop starts over) In playback the kick should be slow and steady (75/76bpm) and go right along with the loop. Voila, your song now sounds like some bad German Industrial music. ;P Use the 4/4 beat a as a reference and try to craft a more complex beat from it. using other percussion patches.

Don't let the nay-sayers get you down.

Keep it up

Lolz, I will considering finishing the song. Yes all my friends are like music theory music theory. Then their like then master I'm like. Some people who give me advice are not even in the industry I don't even know who to trust. But I know quite a few people that are producers at different levels. hell I even know some professional hardstyle and trance producers. Everything takes time.

I completely agree

A lot about making a good song IS creativity. I completely agree with you about how NG is for amateurs that would like to express themselves either by song or by movies or games. The melody is pretty good. I can definitely see how this sounds spooky. I would still like to see this as a full song, but I understand what you are saying about wanting to mess around. I don't know much about music theory or anything like that, so I don't really see how to improve your melody since it already sounds good. Good Job, I love the creativity!!!

aznj50 responds:

thanks. I'm working on ear training and making more complex melodies, baby steps.
