Yep, you guessed it. Another work in progress. I had this idea suddenly, and even though my free time is very limited nowadays, I just had to write it down on FL or else I'll forget it. This is a sort of mix between Ambient, Epic Classical and Trailerscore with some rock drums thrown in. I really rushed this since I have exams and I need to study, but I submitted it since when I finish studying I plan on finishing all or almost all my recent WiP's (New Light, There's Still Hope Left, Against the Clock and a few other WiP's I didn't submit), and I need all the reviews I can get. I believe this has potential but I don't know if you do.

This uses drum samples I downloaded, Magnus Choir for the background choir, and East/West Symphonic Orchestra for the strings, trombone, piano and main 'ooh' choir. I'll probably be adding more instruments, and hey, maybe even a guitar, but for now, this is all I got.

Anyhow, remember to leave me a review, I need to know if this really has potential or not. I've set my standards pretty high for this submission, so if I continue working on it, chances are that it'll turn out great, but I need to know if it's worth continuing it or not. Thanks for reading, listening and I'll respond to all reviews, reviewing back if your review is helpful. Check out my Audio reviews if you want to see what type of review you will receive if you review me helpfully. Enjoy this WiP!

Schnazzy Start!

Hello sir, very nicely done! I don't know what sort of thing this will turn out to be, but I have very high hopes! High production value (I especially like the swooshes that lead into every other tom hit) although a few extra tweaks would give it some more sparkle. A little more work with mixing for instance, to give the piano and voices more of a dynamic and "performed live" feel.

Sounds like a great intro to a great piece! It is very filmic, maybe epic-movie-trailer-esque. Think Globus. It will be hard to balance, because the length of your intro suggests a piece of decent length. It is hard to sustain a really huge texture for a long time, and you have just led into a really huge texture. I have confidence in you though. X-D

As a final note, if you want to make this REALLY pro, the choir and upper strings are what sticks out as the most noticeably midi to me, and they might benefit from something to cover them up a little bit, like a pad, some extra verb or eq. or gratuitous amounts of similar samples. :)

This TOTALLY rocks dude. I will reserve the rest of my comments for the finished version. I'll keep my eye out for it, but if you want a review on that too, shoot me a pm. Again, sweet work!

Wow, thanks for the lengthy review!

"Hello sir, very nicely done! I don't know what sort of thing this will turn out to be, but I have very high hopes!"

Thank you :D. I have high hopes for it too, so much that I gave out the FLP to a certain number of NG members to see what they could do to help me out, then send it back to me so that I can determine a final version of the song. I really have some high standards for this, and I hope it turns out well :3.

"High production value (I especially like the swooshes that lead into every other tom hit)"

Lol, glad you noticed such a little thing xD.

"although a few extra tweaks would give it some more sparkle. A little more work with mixing for instance, to give the piano and voices more of a dynamic and "performed live" feel."

I'm crap at mixing, so I've actually considered looking for some female vocalists on NG who might be able to take place of the woman choirs in this song. I doubt that'll be easy.

Haha thanks xD. I don't have much trouble making long songs, my problem is *starting* songs, although here's a pretty good start IMO so I'll definitely make it as varied and epic as possible.

Hm, those samples are from East/West Symphonic Orchestra, I didn't think from all the sounds you'd find those sounds midi-ish xP. Although I agree that they're very dry; East/West Silver's samples tend to be a bit dry. I'll add a little reverb to them.

Awesome, sure thing. I don't want to push you into reviewing it, but if it's OK with you then feel free :P.

I'll drop you a line when it's finished :).

Thanks again for the amazing review!

Has potential

To me it almost sounds like something from a film soundtrack, like The Mummy or something. As long as it evokes imagery, it's pretty good.

Like you said, it's not yet done. This little preview doesn't really make the best piece, but when it's done I'm sure it'll sound fantastic. The problem is it might take a while. From how it's progressing so far, it needs a lot of different steps or stages to build up tension. There are a lot of places you could go in this song, and the more, the better, as long as it stays consistent.

The various effects in this song really worked well together to create a sort of feeling of adventure or even eeriness. I especially liked the booming sound toward the end of it. The choir is what really sold it for me though. They're effective and can easily vary in style, something I would suggest you try as you continue to make the song. This portion is really nice. Can't wait to hear the whole thing! In this case, the more variation, the better.

Nice work!

Thanks. I'm pretty glad you think of it as that; I've always dreamt of making music for films (actually I already got asked to, with a friend of mine, despite my age :/).

Actually there's a better version which I gave out in the forums. Currently around 5 audio artists or so volunteered to help me out in it, so with all of those people working on it, I think it'll be much easier to continue it.

"The various effects in this song really worked well together to create a sort of feeling of adventure or even eeriness. I especially liked the booming sound toward the end of it."

In the newer version I mentioned above, I improved the booming sound at the beginning too. I gave it a bit more reverb and made it a little more booming and mighty.

Awesome thanks. I have quite a few different choir sounds (Ahh, Ooh, and possibly even East/West Symphonic Choirs where I can make them chant whatever I want them to chant with the Wordbuilder.

Anyway, thanks again for the great review!

It can be great if finished

~~REVIEW~~
Hmm ok well this was somewhat differant, it starts out super soft and then starts to build up, but then it gets cut off, i guess thats what you mean a "WORK-IN-PROGRESS" now i dont find anything wrong with that, its just i was getting into it and you did build up the song, so it was kind of a dissapointment when it cuts off, now i do hope you make a full version of this as it does seem to be something of good quality, so be sure to let me know if you ever do finish it, now for suggestions of improving, hmmm well first off dont cut it off like that haha, anyways keep up the decent work.

~~THINGS TO IMPROVE ON~~
Finish the track ofcourse that would be a plus, give from what i did get to hear it was perfect now just needs that finishing touch you got.

~X~

Step responds:

Yep, I actually asked in the Audio Forums for people to help me out with this. There's a good buildup, but then I'm not sure if I can reach the powerful and epic part after the buildup on my own, so I'm having a few people help me :D.
Glad you like it!

You forgot to credit me for the name!!!

This is an amzing piece of work, I love it from beginning to end, not very much though :P
First of all the opening was very interesting, The shaker effect was unique and interesting and didn't make it repetetive, Although the shaker sample was quite bland IMO.
The piano, the pinnacle of the whole song, fabolous, amazing, spectacular, actually too good for words, It was amazing, The originality of it was simply the best =P
The low notes and high notes both contrasted and Made an amzing effect, I guess opposites work well in a song :P:P:P:P:P:P
The choir, woah, very nice, East/West Rocks
Long story short, very nice, but credit me on teh name. :P

Pffft, OK, you're right. Thanks for the name xD.

Yeah...

"First of all the opening was very interesting, The shaker effect was unique and interesting and didn't make it repetetive, Although the shaker sample was quite bland IMO."

Hmm, OK then. I have loads of shakers anyway, I'm sure I'll find a good one :D.

"The piano, the pinnacle of the whole song, fabolous, amazing, spectacular, actually too good for words, It was amazing, The originality of it was simply the best =P"

These compliments make me feel warm'n'fuzzeh.

"The low notes and high notes both contrasted and Made an amzing effect, I guess opposites work well in a song :P:P:P:P:P:P"

The cool contrast was unintentional since I did this in a rush :P.

"The choir, woah, very nice, East/West Rocks"

Yeah, East/West does, but the choirs in the Silver version of EW Symphonic Orchestra aren't really too special. I think if I had to choose between the choirs of East/West Symphonic Orchestra or Magnus Choir, I'd choose Magnus Choir. Although if I had to choose between Magnus Choir and East/West Symphonic Choirs, well, that's a different story :D.

"Long story short, very nice, but credit me on teh name. :P"

Haha yeah OK, thanks for the review xD.

Good

It 's great for movie oppenings.
i'm using it in one of my movies.

Step responds:

Cool, thanks :D.
