All music written, recorded and produced by JM in Protools 8 and Reason 4.0. Will work better with vocals, which are yet to be written. Drum roll is a little out but 1: haven't had time to fix + 2: actually like it as it is. Strangely.

Really liked it

I really like the beggining, the piano chord progression really draws your attention and almost gives you this anticipating feeling.
I hope you dont mind me giving you a couple suggestions and I know you've already got this, but since the chord progression is litterally the same as Dream on and only slightly off on a couple BPM, it DOES sound like the chorus to Dream On... I understood completely where you come from, it's impossible to find a completely original chord progression, but since most of your song consists mostly of just the same chord progression just played by different instruments, it's hard to get away from it being literally a fairly close copy of Dream On, I simply suggest changing the melody a bit... make it more complex and it could possibly lead away from that similar sound. Or possibly change the litteral chord progression slightly, wether by it's notes or rythem. Even a change of instruments could change it from sounding like someone is bound to sing "dream on", that orchestral thing you got going I noticed really helped with making it it's own thing. Maybe change what the guitar is playing or maybe the drum feel because to me personally those feel closest to the similar sound of that chorus.
Please, don't fret, this is better than most of the crap that's in the audio portal these days.

See I don't mind CONSTRUCTIVE criticism! lol thanks for the comment and pointers, were useful :) aye, one thing i think it needs is vocals. This track was always written as more of a backing track to a vocal song, rather than a piece in it's own right, hence why it's fairly repetitive, verse chorus type feel without having a main melody throughout :P, so once they're done I think the piece will totally come into it's own. Hopefully have a new version up soonish.

Unoriginal????

I had trouble figuring out why that sounded familiar. Then i realized it's really just repeating a part of Dream On By Aerosmith. It really just sounds like that to me. Although i do like that song. But it doesn't seem like an original tune to me. Sorry :P

JMcGoran responds:

Suppose that's why it's had 8.5k downloads is it? Nothing to do with original work or effort. Dude, this is an original piece. The idea started out with me an my friend playing left 4 dead, getting drunk and singing the words "Little bit of vom!" (Boomers while in a drunken state are a little unsettling), me in a descending sequence, him in an ascending harmony, which I later transferred to the string part, built upon and made this track. If you're gona hate on artists, why don't you hate on Black Eyed Peas or James Blunt or Journey or Alicia Keys or nearly any other popular artist for using the same chord sequence? No? There's only so many melodies/chord sequences out there, of course there's gona be a few that SOUND alike, but saying "it's really just repeating a part of Dream On" is bs :) thanks for listening!

well done

Im a sucker for that chord progression.

When I heard it on the piano in the beginning I knew this would be good. As said before, the transition into the drums was rough. I loved the solo at the end.

Goo job!

Aye needs a few teaks, not had a chance to implement them yet but hopefully soon, maybe with vox too! ta again!

The Transition after the intro

could use some work.
but this is pretty solid everywhere else!
There is lots of potential in this track, just keep at it!
