I dig it, but the mood feels too bouncy/bright to be a horror, even for 80's synth style. To me it feels more like a "kid detective" tv show as opposed to "spooky 80's movie on halloween"
You mentioned you love Elfman, I would definitely listen to the "Tales from the Crypt" theme in regards to pace/mood. For me that's spot on when it comes to "spooky/horror with a playful edge"
Awesome stuff Harry!
Very very unique.
You are generally thought of as being a really goofy guy here on Newgrounds, but this was a great example of being serious. It was not even that serious, but was definitley something different from you. Unfortunately, I did not understand how it was supposed to be like an 80s horror movie at all. It seemed a lot more like something from an 80s magic kid's movie. To me, the main tone of it was grace and beauty. At least you managed to show off your true skills as someone who works with variety.
Not bad, but it feels like it's missing that moderately quiet driving bass that would really make it move. Didn't really make me think of horror, except for a bit around 0:15, mostly it reminds me of some moment of supernatural discovery--like finding the Jumangi board, or meeting ET. It's almost authentically 80s, though! :)
It reminds me of goosebumps. AWESOME.
