<PS> Dreams of Ice and Snow

What do we know of the North Pole? Well, all that most of us know is that there is a lot of ice and snow. Most of us can't really say that we know exactly what the North Pole looks like. When we think of it, we mostly use our imaginations to picture what it looks like because we have, for the most part, little knowledge about how it looks. Using our imagination can be most noted in the event of dreaming. We seem to dream about all sorts of things, even the things that we know little about. So, what if we were to dream of the North Pole?

You know, PeguinSam---------->

I could DEFINITELY see this being the background music to an episode of Planet Earth or something, Man. I mean it! There's such a slow, gentle pace, steady and calming about it. I can almost see white snow laden rocks and plains and white, fuzzy critters all around.
The end and beginning are both on the softer side, so there's no real startle, as to when it loops over. This would be a nice piece to have playing in the background while someone was giving birth or something.
(Maybe I just pulled out a female card, on ya, though, so, sorry about that.)
Until your next peaceful musical journey you share. . . .
.............Take care, be good and DREAM.period

PenguinSam responds:

I don't know about the giving birth part, that's usually full of screaming. :P

But thank you for the review. And just so you know, I am going to be posting a new version based on comments that I have gotten, I really want this to win RAC4.

This is great.

Fits very well with the theme. I do think it could use I little more variation (or some background things like you did near the end) but it's a pretty solid track already. Great job and good luck in the contest!

PenguinSam responds:

I'm trying to add some stuff in the background, and it's not an easy thing for me, personally, but I will get it to work!

Thank you for the input and good luck to you (if you are entering)!

Pretty good. Love the atmosphere.

I think you do a great job with setting the mood of the song as lonely and cold. Now, my only reasoning for not giving it a 10 would be that I would have more "spice" to the song like you add with the reverse cymbal around 2:30 and the celesta at 2:53. That stuff is AWESOME for adding a lot to a winter track, so I think you should visit it earlier than two and a half minutes in. Maybe a vibraphone, grand piano, or even solo strings. Oh, I would also use more bass in the main chords (or maybe my speakers just didn't bring it out very well). Hope that helps!

Check out my remix I just did on Dr. Cossack's Castle from Mega Man 4. It's supposed to give off the same icy feel...at least I hope it does :)

PenguinSam responds:

Well, just so you know, it's not a reverse cymbal, just a suspended one and a bass drum, and it's a glockenspiel, not a celesta, just so you know. ;)

Hmmm, I was wondering about the bass to, I'll make some adjustments to that.
And adding the glockenspiel and percussion sounds like a good idea. I may even add a grand piano or solo strings, I'll have to play around with that.

Thanks for the review, it's great to get insight like that!

Zelda-Ish

I felt like I might have been listening to a Zelda soundtrack or something. In my opinion, that's a good thing. A nice, well-rounded track.

PenguinSam responds:

Hmmm...okay.
