The Glowing Plant

A yung boy walking through the woods notices a large plant, asscending into the sky taller than any he has ever seen before. He rushes to his grandmother, and they both stare at its magnificence. People from all around begin coming towards this plant to just stare at it. Cars arrive, buses, the crowd grows larger than the Woodstock festival.

The plant begins to turn into a multicolored array of purple, red, yellow, pink, and black. The fumes it spreads attracts even more people from iles around. DJs set up, and everyone begins dancing. Pot is passed around as if it wasnt illegal, even the cops are doing it. The brave begin climbing the plant and setting up sound systems up above in the clouds, where they have parties until the sun comes up, dancing in the moonlight and singing under the stars.

Those who ignore the music, fin amazement above the clouds. The plant streaches into space, with an oxygen like atmosphere making it possible for the to breath. They set camp on rocks floating around the plant. Lights glow from within the leaves and illuminate the darkness of space.

They dance... and sing... and rest... an breath... and gaze... and stare... and their hearts move towards the plant in an evolving harmony.

(((Nice beat, nice original synths, perhaps put in a bit more variety in there such as strings and more instruments. Nice job!)))

Why didn't you submit this instead then?

This is song has a lot to love my friend! The strings in the beginning sent a massive tremor down my spine, and your effects are quite beautiful in here. While the song itself seems to be missing out on that ever-powerful bass, and the drums are, alas, a little muddy, the song itself is beautiful. I give you props, dj-Jo, this is probably my favorite song by you. I REALLY don't understand why you didn't submit this one instead for the round, because I guarantee my WIP couldn't have stood up the thematic might that this song produces. The introduction is lol! If you keep making stuff like this, you'll go very far in the NGADM (who knows...perhaps to first place? =P)

-Hmmm very interesting way to start this out. Using just the string instruments getting louder and louder. Made me feel like I was about to listen to a straight classical song. But at 0:45 you brought the "stuff". It honestly works out very well and gives atmosphere and feeling into a genre that lately doesn't have too much of that. It's all put some synths here and a badass bass beat and they'll love it.

-It's structured so well and the mixing of classical instruments and techical instruments and sounds worked beautifully to my ears. I'd have to say the beginning was just full of energy and the continual progression to the fadeout at the end were just top notch work. I'd love to see you start pumping out more work like this in the future.

0:00-Nice strings to start, feel very atmospheric, made warmer by 0:16. Gotta love it when strings are done well, because they have such an inherently emphatic nature to them.
0:40-Love the subtle nature of the synth coming in, it lets you have a really extended buildup. And the way you replace classical strings with their more techno alternative works well, definitely lives up to the title. Great pitchbendy bass and interesting and busy drum beat.
1:28-Love the bass and drums; they're brilliantly complex while keeping to those needed techno archetypes.
2:00-Great kind of chorus-like themes, the drum beat is almost frantic at times but as it's deep in the texture you have this kind of "quiet chaos" which is really nice.
2:28-Good transition; the bass is complicated enough to not need any more variation...and that's kind of the same for the drums. The section at 0:40 didn't have much variation in the phrase repetitions, but because the phrases themselves were so very complex, variation was completely unneeded, so you could just play the phrases out for those 40 seconds and be no worse off. Same thing here.
2:44-Transition into piano and strings works well; nice to see you have those those techy elements seeping in throughout to tie the sections more together.
3:14-Nice change of melody and the way the piano and lead come together works well.
3:49-Fadeout's a little extreme, but it's not that big of a deal.
4:00-Like how it finishes with the piano and SYNTH strings and kind of peters out into a sort of natural atrophy. Really nice way to bring the title idea through the track.

Great track, overall, especially for an older one. Awesome transitions, always great to see an NG techno artist who knows what variation in drum and bass can do...what more can you want?

dj-Jo responds:

Thank you Animith!

I always appreciate your reviews, even though I don't reply on your reviews sometimes.

Anyway, the fade out was kinda of experimental
well, this song was supposed to be the song I was to submit to the next round of NGADM
but, you know, things don't always work out! lol

When I got the reviews from the NGADM
most of which criticizing on generic-ness of the drums, so I tried something, well

So, theres that for yah :D

and the combination with techno and classical music was supposed to counter act Gravey and his Classical skillz
but I never got there lol

Thanks for the review dude!

and, when I said old, I meant like...
2 weeks old, or somewhere near that

Nice blend of Classical and Techno Tunes

Nice Refreshing taste from the usual bass and rift Techno songs, and an excellent lead up from The slow start to the main beat in the middle.

Good Job!
