This is my first Hardstyle attempt. I'm still learning about FL Studios 9 and it's getting better now! Hard Melody One is a work in progress and will definatly be improved upon as time goes on! Any suggestions or advice for improvements are welcomed! Thanks!

nice kick

I just didn't like the melody, gonna give you a 5.

ok, now onto contructive critisism

you need to make a more complex melody, the one you have here is to simple.

the synth also needs to change, try listening to HeadHunterz, Wildstyles, Brennan Heart, and others to get a feel of how theyr synth sounds like, and make your own upon that.

ahh, nice to be starting :)

i'll try to give you a lot of feedback so that you could improve :) sooooo where to start.

the main problem that i would have you focus on is that the track doesnt change very much and doesnt have a lot of depth. as noted earlier there is only one kick and a sawtooth melody playing, so not a lot is really happening. the melody itself, however, seems to be moving fairly interesting because it doesnt flow on a regular meter--it doesnt seem to just repeat every 16 beats, so it flows interestingly and actually is fairly listenable.

what you would want to do is a few things. first, make the drums more interesting. instead of just a bass drum, add in other forms of percussion, like high hats, snaps, chopped up sounds, sounds of metal and junk and stuff, congo drums, hell, whatever you want, so long as it stays in a coherent beat. make it move, make it interesting and make it fill the silence [unless silence is what you want].

play around with the synth sounds you are using. add in a bass synth--to do that, make a sound and play low notes. it would really fatten the song. tweak the sounds you use. throw in pads and effects to make an atmosphere. but whatever you do, keep it simple enough that your song doesnt become a sonic mess--try to limit the number of instruments playing at one time to prevent that from happening.

and the most important part--vary it. lose the bass drum at points, change up the melody and way your synths sound. make interesting transitions.

i hope im helping you out as a beginner :) good luck!

ps: id appreciate it if you checked out my latest. maybe itll help you out a bit ;)

Can't say i like the melody.

Got your kick right, need more than just a melody. Sounds way too trance - ish.

Need a build, and a break down.

Needs alot of improvement, give your a 4 for the effort though.

You need to work with your melody a bit too, its too simple, for hardstyle its gotta pulse, and be kinda crazy, make you wanna move your head, and take it with you down the block you know?

It needs a build otherwise we are just litening to a constant kick, vary your kick drum ocasionally, otherwise it gets boring unless you can get your melody to carry it..

For examples of some decent hardstyle you could check out some of the stuff ive made, or go listen to some noisecontrollerz, headhunterz, and project one. Along with breannan Heart. All good artist, with amazing work out there.

Lol goofy melody...

You definately had the hard kick down, but it takes alot more than that to make a hardstyle song. The melody would have sounded better if it screeched a little more. The sound used for the main melody would have been better fit for a trance song.

This definately has potential, it just needs to be filled out more. try adding some dirty hats, a bassline (make sure not to eat up the kick sample) and something else to grab the listeners attention in the background (random vocal samples, crashes, sweeps, arps, etc.)

Not too shabby :p
