Forgive me, it's late, I'm tired. I will post some comments that are worth your time tomorrow.

In the mean time, enjoy my latest, most intricate dubstep track. I did my best to accomplish a professional sound. Alas, I fell short in the mastering some, and the file size was too large for NG. =`(

If you have any suggestions for me, feel free to lemme know what's up. I'm rather proud of this one because I discovered how to make a formant bass, found out how Skream made his bass, and created the first official segment of "metalstep" (You'll see what I mean when you hear it.) And, it's my submission for the semifinals of the Newgrounds Audio Deathmatch (I'm up against Gravey...he's gotten #1 songs on the All-Time Best Scoring in the weeks past, and his "Orchestral Theme 2" is currently one of the "Best of the Week"...great NG artist, I wish I had his mastering skills...oh well, wish me luck! =P).

Anyway, hope you enjoy this one!

It is a very good song, but it does not sound professional in my honest opinion. A lot of the EQing (or lack of EQing) has resulted in lots of muddy bass. The intro seems to be a bit too outgoing, almost sounding like a techno song. The Bitcrushed bass is far to loud and regularly overwhelms the beat, which itself is rather empty. I'm sorry, but I don't see why this song is so popular :L I guess that's just me....

mr-jazzman responds:

Lol I think it has mostly to do with the artistic-ness of it. To each his own, I guess. Btw, my skills have gotten far better since producing this number, and I definitely understand the weaknesses in this one that I've tried to correct in my current projects.

...Also the muddiness is due to more than just EQing. It has some faulty compression (or lack thereof), and no side-chaining to speak of. Oh well. I'm trying to fix this as I speak.

Wow. Just... wow.

This is an amazing piece my friend. I just recently got into dubstep and decided I would look into some on newgrounds and I'm glad I did as this song is a freaking gem man. The flow of the transitions is actually what got me. A lot of what I have heard is far too repetitive, but this song flows through styles without ever really losing its own progression.

The mastering did have a few flaws in my opinion, but that may or may not be my sound system itself haha. I would have given a 9 for the mastering of the track, but the track itself deserves an 11, so I'll balance it out to a 10.

mr-jazzman responds:

Thank you my friend! Glad you liked it! I want to re-release this song soon with a better master even than the remaster. =)

Awesome Bass

Where can I start? The bass was freaking awesome. The bass actually reminded me of the bass in a couple of Funtcase's songs. I really like the beat, and when accompanied by the awesome bass it just is a great work of art. You really did make a professional sounding song. I wasn't bored at any point in this song to be honest with you.

mr-jazzman responds:

Awesome man, glad you loved it! =D

Pretty fucking good

What program are you using and how did you do the bass?! is there a video anywhere on how to do it?

One thing I'd like to say though is it kinda died in the middle, and it's a little slow for my taste, but I liked the beginning a lot

You seem to have down how to do it right, just need to make it a little more's good though

mr-jazzman responds:

I used FL Studio to produce this baby, and the bass is done with adjusting Cutoff frequencies (I hate LFOs lol). I'm sure there's plenty of videos out there on how to do it; I haven't personally made any, but I MIGHT consider doing some in the future.

Yeah, I stylistically caused it to die down in the middle, to make the end all the more epic! I'm not big on structural homogeneity, so you'll oftentimes hear several themes produced in my songs! =)

Thanks for the honest review my friend!
