A WiP I found. My question here isn't "did you enjoy it?" because I'm pretty sure you didn't. My question is more of "is it worth continuing?".

This uses East/West Symphonic Orchestra Silver for all the instruments except the staccato strings which are Monster Staccatos and the shakers and congas which are random samples I downloaded. I know the song sounds blurry, I know the song clips, I know the song has very quiet percussion and I'm aware of the cymbal which cuts off abruptly towards the end of the song (that's a glitch with East/West) so ignore it.

Is it worth continuing?

Yes, it is worth continuing...

Very much so, and the orchestra is still waiting on you to finish...

I can't be of much help here, maybe other than telling you after the end, go back to the key of C for eight measures, and start using G for a few measures, and continue with your epic musicalness. Of course, I'm not very good at orchestral stuff, nor very good at explaining, but I can tell you that this must be finished. :D

Step responds:

Haha thank you :3. Some people say that it has potential, others don't, but I'll probably get around to continuing this, especially because I recently got Ethnoworld 3, which has some amazing flutes and stuff.

Thanks for the advice.

Oh my

I don't know what it is about an orchestral piece but I just love 'em to death and yours is no exception.

You got a 9 because it's a WiP, and that is all. Keep doing what you're doing and all will be fine. It is apparent that you need no help from me here.

It had a rich harmony created by the strings in the background which really made this piece come to life. The key change was also well placed and, though sudden, it really worked. The instrumentation was flawless and the various percussion was noticeable but not upstaging, just right.

Keep this up for the rest of the song and I'll be glad to give you that well deserved 10! Awesome job!

Wow, you like orchestral? Haha, you're not alone then, I worship Orchestral songs too xD. I'm pretty surprised you like this though, when comparing it to my usually Orchestral stuff (Land of Kings, Morning Horizon), this isn't that good :P. I suppose that's what you get for finishing songs in 2 hours...

Aw thanks xD.

The rich harmony with the strings is something I add in every Orchestral submission of mine. It sort of gives just the right amount of depth that I'm looking for. If you hear my Orchestral stuff you'll notice that they rarely have strings actually playing melodies in the foreground :P. Key change was me being lucky, I had to copy and paste something and by mistake when I pasted it, I had it moved upwards 4 semitones, and said, "Hey this sounds cool.". Heh I love being lucky.

Awesome :3. This is something I'll definitely consider on revisiting. Thanks for another great review, this review marks the end of all my recent WiP's :D.

Not entirely sure...

In my opinion, it's lacking excitement. It's salvageable for sure, but it needs a lotta work. It sounds sort of like Zelda, for sure, as Rakoun pointed out (or even Pokemon lol) but it just doesn't sound...exciting...if you know what I mean. The melody isn't as passionate as I hoped it would be. In my opinion, it feels a little typical - just being honest man. I know for some ideas, you could look into the Lord of the Rings music (Howard Shore is a musical genius, and you'll see what I mean about "excitement" once you listen to his stuff...which I'm sure you've already heard some of it =P). In my opinion, the flutes on single notes make it feel "cheesy," like a high school marching band; the flute works well in third and fifth intervals, so try experimenting with that. Also, the song could DEFINITELY use a boost in the percussion section, because right now it just seems like a backdrop (once again, you should analyze how Howard Shore does it). One final thing: You could try implementing some choir into here, I know of a few decent free choir soundfonts (surprisingly, Gravey and I use the same ones =P); this will fill out your song completely, giving it this epic feel, much on the order of Halo...which is ANOTHER good source of inspiration, btw (although it's rather overdone on NG =\). One thing I did like though: Your entrance, with the cymbals. It reminded me of Dance Gavin Dance, the beginning of this song called "Open Your Eyes and Look North." I'd recommend listening to them too...and (I sound like a broken record by now! lol) Karnivool. I promise you, these bands will change the way you look at music!

P.S. You know what? I just thought of another band you need to check out. They blend orchestra with metal, great stuff. Check out We Came As Romans, I promise you won't be disappointed. I think they have more of that "epic" feel your looking for man. =) Wish ya luck with this, and hope this helps you out a bit.

Step responds:

Thanks for the review man! I totally agree with you on everything. It is pretty boring to hear, and I was never good with the flute either, and I know about that percussion. There are timpanis, bass drums, cymbals and snares there but they can barely be heard. I won't tell you why that happened since it's a long story and I don't feel like typing right now xD. But long story short: East/West has a glitch which resulted in the percussion being very quiet. As for choirs, don't worry, I have Magnus Choir and even East/West has a few choirs, plus I have some soundfonts with choirs in them too :D. As for the melody, yeah I see what you mean. I might actually take a few ideas from this song and make a totally new one. Anyway, thanks for the awesome review, man, didn't work too hard on this so I'm impressed you have so much to say xP. Thanks for the band suggestions too, definitely will help with inspiration! Thanks again :D.

Worth Continuing.

Good to continue with, it quite reminds of Zelda, with it..I think at halfway with the intruments getting higher and higher pitched until the grand end.
You could make a great song out of this :D.

Step responds:

Aweosme :D. Personally I was inspired by the amazing soundtrack of Okami the Wii game, specifically this one:

As you can see that one is so much better than mine =D. Thanks for the review!

my god.

this is the most epic song i think ive heard so far in my lifetime.

Step responds:
