A Piano's Testimony

I am using this song as my entry for the Drum and Piano competition. When I listen to this song there seems to be some sort of high pitched ringing going on, this is not present in the original song. For some reason when I uploaded this to Newgrounds it became present. It almost sounds like a bit crush effect was added or something of a similar nature. I mainly only hear it in the beginning and the end when the piano is soloed, but I wanted to address that issue because it is not present in the original mp3. Thus there isn't anything I can do about it. I'll be posting this to another site as well allowing you to download a better quality version if you wish. A link will be posted in this area for that as soon as possible.

As for the song itself, the competition was quite straightforward. One needs to use both percussion and a piano in the song in some form, and the idea is for them to be the primary focus. Oddly enough the idea of "piano" extends to synths when listening to some of the examples to give contestants some ideas. So there is some wiggle room, but I decided to go with the more literal rout using a real piano and simple Cuban percs in one of my new sample packs.

All in all I really like this. I wanted to keep it simple and realistic, as well as melodic and pleasing on the ears. Instead of heavy chords I rolled them and created a melody over top of those rolled chords which gave the piano a very fluid feel.

I hope you enjoy listening to this as much as I enjoyed composing it.

yer!

its seriously quite good when it gets into it it eminds me of some kind of adventure but the reason y i made it an 9/10 not a 10/10 is bacause well its not my type but its not ur fault well thats me!

So soothing and relaxing.

I love this song. It's so relaxing. It starts out with a simple piano which is nice, then the drum kicks in which adds some kind of focus on the piano or something. It's hard to explain, but something like that. The synths really added a lot to the calmness of this as well and I felt so relaxed while listening to this. I really like how you didn't make it incredibly loud as well like some people do here. It was nice and relaxing at a very nice sound level. Then again, I guess I could've lowered the volume, but I think that was what you were going for anyways. Great job, added to my faves.

Great.

I have to say, I love your bassline. The way it flows into the next repetition is flawless. You hit the nail on the head with the word fluid. The song itself is simple, and nearly pulls that off for the entire song. But I just can't listen to the entire thing without losing focus at one point, which to me makes this a very good ambient song, because the composition itself is simple and deep but it's hook is just a tad shy of flawless. With the right game/movie to focus on, I'd imagine this would make an incredibly rich background sound.

And as a side note, the plucked strings were a nice touch. At least, I think they were strings. At about 1:01.

This was a great song, and the planning of this really shines through the majority of other songs I've heard. Great job mate.
