Album-Big trouble in little China Soundtrack (1986)
Music written by John Carpenter

Jeffaro:Guitars,Bass and Drum Machine

Software:Gearbox,Reaper and Acoustica Beatcraft.
Hardware:Line 6 Tone Port UX2
Instruments:ESP MH-401QMNT and an ESP F-404 Bass

I covered this song with the idea of making it metal while staying true to the original song as best as I can.Look up this song on youtube and you will be amazed at how different these songs are.I removed the ambiance and chinese themes completely.

This was a really fun cover to record.I'll probably find the DVD and add my cover into the alley scene. We will see.

Review

A well put together metal piece. It probably could have been a bit louder (I am using speakers not headphones, 180 watts). The instruments are played well and the beat is solid. Though the song is short...cut off?

Not my best review...but there you are =]

Jeffaro responds:

Thanks for the compliments. And I do agree with your notion that the song is cut off.I sort of ran out of ideas and started to hate the song.So I just did a fade.I'll work on getting the volume fixed sometime later.

Thanks for another one of your reviews.

Bad ass song

Bad Ass Drums And Guitar.

Jeffaro responds:

METAL UP YOUR ASS!

AHHHH!

I like it - but a little short

I think that there is certainly potential here, with the way that you've set the track going. The sound quality was a little low, since I had to turn it up quite loud to get a volume that I could listen to properly. As the piece itself progressed, there was a good amount of metal elements in there, but it didn't really bind together as it should have.

I think that the lead guitar solo should have been made longer and more aggressive - this is a cover, but you are allowed poetic licence on what you do to it. Fading out halfway through what I perceived as the tune was a little weak as well, so extrapolate it and give us more of a tune.

Some lyrics wouldn't go amiss either, since they can really change the sound of a song.

Jeffaro responds:

Its not loud? I thought it was at a decent volume. Also, I do agree with your thoughts on how the piece progressed. As I said in my response to Haggards review, I ran out of steam really fast with this one.

I shouldn't have made this.

Thanks for the review.

Nice cover

I like the cover version better than the original. The original seems to contain everything I didn't like about the 80's, heh.

I like the guitar very much here. It has a very good sound and is played in a very good way. Too bad the cover is so short though. It would have been nice if you had included some more parts that you made up yourself but fit to the original. It's propably a hard task, but I think it would sound pretty good, plus it would definetly make the song a bit longer.

Jeffaro responds:

Personally, I think the bass sounds brutal if its played at the original tempo. The A and E progression is not to be underestimated!

Anyways, as for the shortness, I ran out of steam real fast when I made this thing. Looking back on it, I shouldn't have made this.

Thanks for ze review!
