Arabesque is type of ornament on Persian and Turkish carpets, buildings and pictures. That term was used in music for the first time by German composer Robert Schumann (1810-1856). Term describes short piano piece which possesses elements of oriental music. Composers, such as Schumann and Debussy used this term to partially describe poetical character of their compositions.
