Whaat this is crazy.. Had to give this one a second listen. Beginning just draws you in. Sucks you lost your songs :( but def worth making more :)
Heh, thx for actually reviewing all of these. Wasn't expecting such high praise either. I'm kinda sad I lost this one, cuz it wasn't finished and nobody really gave me any good feedback on where to go wwith it next. Oh well...
That bass reminds me of the Matrix ^__^
More precisely "Clubbed to Death - (Kurayamino mix)" from the original matrix soundtrack.
Anyway, back on topic. This seems like THE perfect chrono-trigger style soundtrack. I managed to recognize a few Sytrus presets, but they've been used very well (nice mastering, btw). One particular instrument (the flute-ish instrument that shyly fades-in at times) is spectacular: Superb pitch-bending.
I'm not quite good at explaining myself, but I'd suggest focusing on the melody you added in 1:05 (the one present at the very beginning as well). Make it develop to something else either by modifying the melody directly or by adding a clone instrument that makes a harmonic melody in conjuction with the former that eventually will fade away giving way to the new melody. I hope it's clear.
I'm not 100% certain, but I think that the bass' melody is acting like a red herring: I think it got you stuck melody-wise not giving you space for something else. Try muting the channel in FL Studio; Find an alternative background melody, maybe this will help you.
If all else fails (and you trust me enough ^__^) pass me the flp. and I'll try and figure out something for you.
Keep up the great work!
Thanks for the review! As always, it's full of great ideas. Just one problem: my laptop (with literally all my .flp files) was stolen. So basically, "everything I ever said and everything I ever did is gone and dead" ( Smashing Pumpkins).
I haven't bothered getting back to makin' tunes since then. But it's been almost a year now... maybe the mourning period's over? Who knows.
Reminds me of "the alternate route"
Strikes me as similar to the song from SM64 when you were in a Bowser level.
Anyways, not much happens in this track, and it didn't really get me going, but what does sounds pretty damn cool. I give you this seven out of ten in the hopes of it inspiring you to get some leads in this bish, and then I'll write you a full on review with a better score.
Uh, the snares are pretty cool too. Sort of a march feel there.
