this piece sounds like what i feel when i would walk through campus along my day. specificly the last day of school all these things kinda passed though my mind as i walked to my car.

i saw couples holding hands in the cold, the library where i spend alot of time in the quiet, peoples faces that i wont be seeing for a while, ice rain, and a darkening sky setting over all the things i had lived through that semester.

pondering about love, life and the things i will one day bring to this world all flowed as a steady rhythm

It makes me think...

Listening to this I had two images: the beginning made me think about how I felt when riding on the MTR in the morning to get to school. There were also moments of me walking by myself around in shopping malls, and by the ocean. It was calming to listen to.

I thought the piano melody was nice, but for some reason the normal piano doesn't sound like it fits absolutely perfectly in the song (maybe it's just me), although whatever sound effects you did with it after the first section definitely fit in and it sounded really cool...and they also put in that "asian cameo" sound you seem to have in some of your songs, heh. I can't help but feel that the background could use a little more accompaniment, it sounds great but also a bit empty at the same time.

Your comments mention that this piece sounds to you like you would feel walking through campus along your day. While I did initially get similar visual thoughts, I think it's more because this song seems to represent my state of mind in those moments -- namely, a state of retrospection and deep thought, as I observe, speculate, but do not actively interact with my surroundings. Perhaps that's also how you feel when you're walking through school?

Darren-M responds:

that is exactly how i felt.

the piano effect after the first time through was still piano but i reversed the piano samples so that they were like sweeps.

they were long at first so i had to shorten the samples and then reverse them.

well i read the author's comments, and i enjoyed the pseudo-deepness.
but as for the song, i really like the beat, it's catchy.
the breathy pad you use could be flanged some so it fits in more and sounds spacier.
but only thing i don't like is that it sounds like something is missing from this song.
i don't know what.
anyways, i think piano's are overrated, but i liked when you pitch bended and did that stuff with reversing on the piano, it sounded neat as hell.

Darren-M responds:

you know if it hadnt been a good suggestion i wouldnt consider it, but i think flanging the main pad might be a good idea, or at least a filtered portion of it.

yeah i wanted the piano to be more interesting than just, "piano".

thanks for the review!
