11/30 - Many crash cymbals removed. Remastered.

This is a very harmonized piece, arguably my most yet. This is also my first classical piece utilizing percussion. This song is 100% Edirol Orchestral, which, judging by the outcome, can show you the great power of that VST. I had a great challenge while making this song. There were many new aspects of classical composition that I encountered, so this project was a huge learning experience. Thus, I would like to dedicate this song as some sort of a "Thanksgiving" theme. I hope this song gets across a message of my thanks, to God, and to everyone who has helped me in my musical pursuit.
Please, reviews are highly welcome so I can know what aspects of composition I need to work on.

- Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving!

Hmmm

I really liked the panning, did you model the channels after a real orchestral arrangement or was it more improv?

DJ-Chilvan responds:

Oh shit! I didn't even see this review lol=P Sorry!
In all of my classical songs (except for my first one lol), I channel everything based on a real orchestra layout, but the only difference is that I usually pan the contrabass more left rather than to the right, where it is located in a real orchestra. This is to provide a main balance of sounds and so the bass won't overpower the right channel, which also has low frequencies such as the cellos and timpani.

To the victor, the spoils

Very reminiscent of something from the end of a Star Wars movie, though with a medieval twist.

I love the sounds and the way that it sounds so grandiose, as if there is a prince of the realm entering the city, his honour proven to one and all, as an enemy now vanquished pays tribute to his country and their forces.

I think that the reduction of cymbal crashes is a great move and it does make the piece seem to have more significance, especially when the cymbals actually come in now.

DJ-Chilvan responds:

Thanks! I really love your interpretation of the song! I actually did get really "in tune and immersed" when composing this piece. The whole part from 2:42-2:52 was my most emotional part, the mix of harmonies there just get to me everytime, it feels so great=P. I was actually picturing some type of royal orchestra performing this piece while I was composing it haha.
BTW, this song sounds even better now for me because i recently completed all of my personal victories (read my response for Zouk's review)
Thnx again!

Good song

A very epic sounding song. Maybe even too epic, my speakers crackled all the time during this song. Yes, I have shitty speakers, but maybe the song is a tad bit too loud, because on other songs here in the AP I don't have this problem.

This aside, the song sounds truly amazing. I especially like the drums here. They create a very nice backing track for the other instruments. They also sound very militaristic, which fits very well to the melodies. They too sound like a "marching song", or a "present the army" song.

I didn't like the "pre outro" at 4:16, though. It sounds a bit strange there and the beginning of the last part is a bit abrupt as well.
But overall the song is very nice.

DJ-Chilvan responds:

Thanx for the review! I'm glad you enjoyed the song! Yes, it is a pretty epic song, it turned out a lot more epic than I thought it would =). I did have mixed feelings about the pre-outro too but IMO it turned out pretty well; i try to make my endings as epic as possible=P.
BTW, this songs sounds extra amazing for me because I finally completed all of my personal victories (see my response to Zouk's review)
Thanks again!

marching band

very good for when america won independence, or when us blacks got our rights.
Very good for when an army won a war or was going off to war or something to do with political/military and freedoma nd stuff. Very good indeed! Just try not to waste all of your cymbal claps. There are too many of them in the song.
You should continue with classical music. You are actually good with it.

DJ-Chilvan responds:

Thnx for the review! Yea, this song is very victorious. If you read my previous review response, you will see the history of this song. I agree, the cymbals were a little much, but my next classical piece is going to be a lot more mellow.

Great song...

This is a great song for the Victory Parade. It's a song about the pride and joy after every victorious events, especially during wars. Great job dude :)

DJ-Chilvan responds:

Thanks dude! Your review is very relevant because the tentative title for this track was "Victory in G." I had the concept for this song quite some time ago, and I wasn't planning to finish it or release it until I acheieved some of my personal victories. Those victories were:
1. Getting a job (I got one a few months ago)
2. Getting my driver's license (the DMV fucked me up, I'm still trying to acheive that one)
3. Doing well on the SAT and ACT (I fucked up on both =P but I'm going to retake the ACT soon and I'm extra prepared for that one).

So ya, after realizing that I only conquered one challenge, I decided "screw it, this song can't wait." So instead, I dedicated it as a song of thanksgiving.

Thanks!
