Electronic - Ambient

Author Comments

This is a very stealthy reverb-filled track, made for a game titled (**add information about game and author when the time comes** and it was hell of fun making it too. This is my first attempt at ambient, or anything even in this range. I think I did pretty well. I tried to mix things up in this one, so there's a little bit of everything. This is actually a very rare track for me because it doesn't involve harmony.
I think this track is ideal for any stealth-genre project.

Please, enjoy, and rate/review.

Yeah not bad!

Very nicely equalized I must say. The drum and the bass synth are really well placed. However, the guitar and the piano sounded strange to me. Maybe if you had replaced the piano with some synth. The clash between the acoustic piano and the eletronic bass synth didn't go well. The last minutes of the song ,however, did go well. Yeah, it seems like you got better at the end. The high pitched piano gave a good mood to the song. Good work man!

DJ-Chilvan responds:

Thnx! Yea, this is probably my best mastered song yet. Idk y, i think the sounds I used kinda calculated each other to fit well, because mastering this track didnt take much =P.
Yea, i had to use the instruments i used, because this song was made for a request by a NG flash artist, hence, i had to follow his guidelines---he wanted a rock feel to it. I didnt have any good electric guitar VSTs so I had to distort a piano lol =P. I loved the ending as well; pretty epic.
Thnx again!

Classy game music

Reminds me of a game called Mechwarrior I used to play on the SNES, good memories although some levels had a dark feel to them. This tune brings back memories.

Drums: Sounds very complexing and simple at times, sounds very insane and crazy as it blends into the beats of the song, very nice job there.

Piano: Sounds pretty cool, is that where the spacey sounds come from as well since it sounds pretty cool as well.

Bass: Sounds like a bass guitar and that's pretty cool to me, very sweet and soothing within the song it is.

Overall: No need to improve this piece, very nice piece of work.

DJ-Chilvan responds:

Thnx man! This fun was very fun to make too. The spacey sound you're thinking of is probably my distorted piano---it was supposed to sound like an electric guitar =P (i didn't have any good electric guitar VSTs)
Yea, I really liked the drums and beat. I think the delay on the drum kit made everything a lot better.
Well, I'm really glad you liked my song and thnx again for the review!

Interesting circular

Not a bad rendition, but it does suffer from the hallmarks of repetition and lack of overall variation. I think that you could have gone some way to dealing with this, by giving more of a prominent arena to the piano, which would have gone some way to assisting with this track, but it's all down to choice.

A good beat and a well formed foundation to the track, culminating in a well devised piece that does have a good drive from the beat, a decent melody and the piano does feature as a nice counter melody - not sure about the scales though, you could do so much more, rather than just top to bottom and bottom to top.

It has potential, but it's not quite there, in my opinion. I couldn't listen to this all day, but with a few more minor changes, I possibly could.

DJ-Chilvan responds:

Thank you for the review! Yea, this was my first attempt at this type of musical style, plus it was made for a short notice request, hence the lack of elements. But the next time i get a creative spark, I'll convert it to this genre of music.

Nice, but keeps itself in the background too much

A good song, but it seems to be a bit... "bland". It's just that there doesn't seem to be any climax in this song.
Yes, I know this was posted in the "Ambient" genre and many ambient songs don't have anything like a climax. I just don't know how I could describ this better.

Anyway, I'm not trying to say that this song is bad - because it isn't. I like the melodies in this song. They sound indeed very "stealthy" and especially the main melody (we can hear it already right from the beginning of the song) creates a "stealthy" atmosphere. It sounds as if there's a threat behind every corner and I have to be careful to not be seen by anyone.

The mixing is done pretty nice as well. Everything can be heard just fine without any melodies or instruments being overpowered by other instruments.

DJ-Chilvan responds:

Well, this was my first spin on stealthy-ambient music. But next time I'll aim for more pizazz in my composition. But I am glad that I met my goal, that this song does sound stealthy. That was my main focus and the fact that I accomplished it is a great joy =). I'm glad you liked the mixing. Mixing and mastering is one of the most irritating things I do in my life (yet fun), but it has to be done. This is probably my best mixed song yet.
Thanx for the review!
