Classic GB. The beginning's supposed to sound boring so please listen longer than 10 secs.

This reminds me of the Age Of Empires I: The Rise Of Rome soundtrack. Especially the drum loop. Very early-Microsoft-style. Gave me some high thoughts.

Bet this isn't your original melody.

But don't hate me if it is.

tedJohnston responds:

hey, thanks for reviewing!

it IS my own original melody...so I guess I'll take that as a compliment? hahaha. it DOES, however, sound kind of like Terminator...but I only realized this LATER.

I'm glad you liked it, and thanks for not docking Originality points despite your suspicions that I stole the melody. ;)

time to save hyrule!!

very snes! sorry if i didnt get the exact reference if its a real game song or not, as an original melody its very cool. definatly sounds like a zelda or final fantasy song. the chord progression suits the melody perfectly especially the chord that drops down an octave on the 4th bar. also the background instruments dont overpower the melody.

unfortunatly theres a bit of distortion in the background attached to that instrument that starts the song , the d, d d d, d, d d d, etc.
i just think the one difference i would make is that one of the bass instruments backing up the chord progresiion could be down an octave. im not sure wat instrument its called cause im not really familiar at all with reason, but it starts with the drums.

uhh yeah other than that it all works well.

tedJohnston responds:

hey, thanks for the review! yes, this song is an original melody hahaha. (although, it does sound very Terminator...which i realized AFTER making it and was completely unintentional hahaha).

the distortion you're hearing is actually the GB drums hahaha...i put it in there to give it a bit of "fuzz"...i guess it was too much, huh?

i'm glad you like the melodic progression of the song and such. i had lots of fun making this song and i'm glad you enjoyed it!

thanks for the review! cheers an g'day.

Nicely done

Well done Ted_Johnston. I liked this audio entry. Not to sure that it deserves to be on the front page but still a well rounded piece. I liked the whole bass intro which allowed for the main section of the song. i liked the whole water drop thing in the background as well. Nicely done piece. I give you TheEndlessWaltz 4.3 star review.

tedJohnston responds:

hahaha, you idiot, you posted on the wrong one!!! muhahaha. you're such an ass with your reviews ^_-

(note to the public: this guy's my friend, so we're just joking around.)

I am a really big fan of old-skool 8-bit sounds, so you definately caught my attention with the start of this trk, in no way did I find it boring(intruiging yes, boring, no:). It would work well as a theme to an old GB game, either a starting or ending theme to a game about knights, or at least that's what picture I get from this trk.
You have obviously got the hang of making 8-bit sounds, so i would like to hear you make a trk that is less themed round game music and more experimental, but hey, that's just me:)

tedJohnston responds:

thanks for the review! i'm glad you liked this track.

it's funny that you say you want to hear another 8-bit track but one more experimental, because that's exactly what i'm working on right now (it's still videogame themed, but it's not just straightup 8-bit). i'm planning on making it one of my best songs ever, so i'm waiting for downloads to be back before i post it. stay tuned!

thanks again for the review! cheers an g'day.

Ryan likes

Its funny you say that...cuz most people dont listen longer than ten seconds...I for one, do...for the most part. This was quality. I could very easily see some stupid nes rpg having this as its theme. That doesn't mean Im saying your song is stupid...a good rpg good have this as its theme too. Good job...horray for you!

tedJohnston responds:

hey, thanks for the review! not only do you listen longer than ten seconds, but you ACTUALLY REVIEW hahaha. the reason i say "please listen longer than just ten seconds" is because the beginning is supposed to sound boring and monotonic and most people would just listen to that and then turn it off. i'm glad you liked the song!

if you have the time, please rate/review my other pieces. thank you! cheers an g'day.
