I've been trying to learn about music composition and sound recently. To this end, I took one audio sample - a single iteration from a square wave with a tiny blip of distortion preceding it - and worked out how to use it for every instrument in this song. The bass, the lead, the harmonies, even the snare, bass kick and cymbals are all variations of this one square tone. The only filters I used on the song were a flange effect on the lead and a graphic equalizer to tweak levels (e.g. add more bass on the bass synth). I won't go too far into the details here (unless someone asks), but I learned a lot from the experience. I also like the song! Sure it's a bit silly, but then again so am I.
