Wow... I never worked so hard in my LIFE!! (OK, so I may be exaggerating a little...). Here's a six minute song I made, which consists completely of percussion instruments. This uses claps, congas, bongoes, shakers, tambourine shakes, tambourine hits, kicks, reverse cymbals, reverse gongs (strange, I know), tomtom drums, crash cymbals, kettles, boomers and a lot of hard work. In all, it makes 25 different samples. Note that there are some parts where the drums overpower the main melody - that's intentional; apparently, jungle tracks focus a lot on drum beats.

Oh, and this is my second jungle song, the first one being Jungle Run. You can check that one out as well, this song has a small part where it uses the main melody of Jungle Run.

Also, it's the first time I've actually used FL Studio's mixer properly (I know, I'm a complete noob). Not much, mind you. Just some overdrive on a kick, reverb throughout the whole song, some extra reverb on a few samples, and some distortion on one of the samples.

I'd really appreciate some feedback on this, it took me ages, and it's not easy making a six minute song without many repetitions. This'll probably get 0-bombed to hell, but whatever... Having said that, enjoy the song, and although percussion-only tracks might not be to your liking, you might enjoy this one :).

Oh and, since this is quite a long song, I had to reduce the quality quite a lot to have it accepted to Newgrounds. If anyone wants the max quality, 20 MB (OMG) song can send me a PM. Thanks for reading this awfully long Author's Comment, and since you're probably halfway through the song by now, enjoy the other half of the song :D.

Pretty much the same comments here as the previous jungle-based song. There's a lot more content here of course, but nothing terribly exciting after a few minutes, it's mostly the same old percussion masturbation. I should take a break.

Step responds:

Percussion masturbation haha.

By faaaaar my most boring track. But it has a few half-decent rhythms. My last jungle track is Jungle Spirit, which is probably the best from the lot.

My windows song? I dunno about that... Maybe the melodies here sound a little the same... Oh well, lol, thanks for the review!

My heart is beating like a jungle drum...

Why do I always have to think of that song when reading the word "jungle" somewhere?

Anyway, this is a very nice song. The driving instrument here are the drums, which of course fits nicely with the jungle theme. The good thing about those "drum songs" is that they tend to never get boring no matter how long they are. Your song is no exception from this rule.

Not the best, but certainly not bad.

Score: 7 / 10
Summary: Not the best, but certainly not bad.
Review: It's original, and well varied, but it just doesn't do it for me.

First off, the drum sample sounds nasty. I'm not sure what it is, but I don't like it. The rhythms are good, and the whole song is very varied, to the point that I had no idea it was looping.

When I became aware of it, however, I just found it too long. Six minutes of jungle rhythms is a lot. It can be cut with at least one minute, even more.

What COULD improve this would be some sort of tribal voicing. Tribal songs, tribal screams, anything like that. Would add to the jungle-feel.

Step responds:

Hmm... well I can't really find any good drum samples; they're the best I've got, and they're not professional or anything, so yeah, they'll probably sound bad. I should shorten it too, I guess, and I'll try and find some tribal voices when I get the time. Thanks for the informative review, I'm thinking of making a V2 of this now...

Not bad

I can see this piece growing on me, much like how the jungle grows relentlessly and overwhelms everything else over the course of its life.

I like the sounds of the drums and the way that it carries the tune, along with the industrial sounding backing for the track - to be perfectly honest, we found sounds similar to that once, when I was a kid and we started banging sticks on lengths of plastic water pipe that were all different lengths :P If sounded good, but was not as refined as this, to be honest.

Perhaps some vocals - ululating voices from within the dense undergrowth would complete the track and would certainly give a much improved presence to the track as a whole.

Step responds:

Thanks for the review :). I'm glad you enjoyed it. About adding vocals, maybe I should add some tribal voices or tiger roars. Aleady tried looking for some, and didn't find any. Ahh well, maybe I'll try looking harder and do an updated version of this track. Thanks again for the review :D.
