As I sprang out of the portal, there I saw him. Simply standing there, looking at me with a grin. Suddenly, he ran behind a building, out of my sight. I chased him endlessly, never letting him out of my sight for more than a few seconds. I tripped, I got up. I slipped, I got back on my feet. Then, he was nowhere to be found. I was looking around so quickly my neck was hurting, but was worth the effort in the end, as I saw him on top of a department store, handling carelessly the most important ingredient of the antidote. I ran to him, the cling-clang of my armor slowing me down in such a modern time.
But I didn't reach him. I was so close, and yet he had the time to open another portal and jump. This time, on the other hand, I would not stop and think. I jumped in the portal....
everything was so dark in here... For an inexplicable reason, I knew what to do. I stretched my body as much as it could, and reached with my arm in an unknown direction. Even my fingers were tense. I was rewarded. The throat of the one I pursued for so long was finally in my grasp. I held him there for a long moment, satisfied of my effort. Suddenly, he let out a laugh only the insane would dare let out. I wondered why, but my question was answered shortly. He pulled off his mask. That's when I realized I couldn't survive. I had to kill myself. Why you ask? Because behind the mask... was myself.
