This is a programmatic piece in rondo form, standard ABACA. This piece is a depiction of a day of a man who is constantly dreaming. The beginning "A" section of this piece starts rather ambiguously and cloudy. The key is unclear, playing off the dreamy effect. There is some apparent dissonance near the end of the "A" section which will be explained and resolved later in the piece. The "B" section is the depiction of a busy 9-5 workday though while still with the dreamy, cloudy feeling. This section of the piece is constantly moving like clockwork while coming to a sudden abrupt end to the work day in which the character re-enters the dreamlike state, this time with a little more clarity. The dissonance returns at the end of this altered "A" section which is finally resolved when it moves in the "C" section. This section can be considered the "nightmare" of the day. Not so much a terrible nightmare, but a dark cloud. The "C" section comes to an end with a more optimistic demeanor back into a once again altered "A" section. This time, the "A" section, instead rising is now falling back into the original dreamlike state signifying the end of the day.
