I wanted to make this a general rock song but it turns into prog rock and then prog metal later on. Oh well. Writing prog rock/metal is like biting your fingernails to me; it's a hard habit to break.

Anyway, I made up a song structure, added weird chords, unorthodox harmonization and counterpoint a la King Crimson and Schoenberg, and even almost jazzy riffs and whipped this up.

It's gonna get weird toward the end. Just a fair warning.

This is a solid track. It just seems to keep escalating, though. It kind of reminds me of Nobuo Uematsu, especially something he'd use for a severely dramatic boss that transforms and escalates with a different theme at each part. It just has this weird sense of raw drama, even for prog rock, that seems to rattle me at the end, even fi the audio gets a little ugly in the last minute or so.

proggy...

Newgrounds should have more of this stuff... not only those overrated fast paced techno/trance-ish songs...
Great Song, I wish I could come up with such fast solos. The chage at 7:20 = pwn. About the complex drums (well, not really), you could also use a better drums samples library to get rid of that "machine gun" (again) effect, seeing that you used those snares quite a bit.

sounds familiar

havent you used that riff before?! maybe i lissened to this and different review...im having epic deja vu. this whole song is familiar, the break down and ever. whatevs
this is still a gr8 song. and keep doing prog rock cause thats what i like! I would like to hear more complex drumming, something more than beat. but this is a gr8 song and it just keeps getting better when heard. awesome soloing. the end is extremely involving as well.

lol I did have this song up as "You're a Toaster." I thought the idea was really dumb so I completely scraped the concept and remolded it into this. While the idea was retarded, I thought the music was still pretty tight so I couldn't let that go to waste haha. It sounds almost exactly the same with a slight change in production and some parts where cut out so it wouldn't drag, as well as the middle section being replaced by the solo.

So yeah. That's probably why it's familiar sounding.

Stop hounding me about the lack of complex drumming! I'm doing the best I can, dammit! Though since "Ngorongoro Monster," I did learn a few things about complex rhythms. I'm probably gonna add more drum kits and percussion sets to my songs in the near future.

Cool

It sure sounds a lot like DT like HakitaSasaki said. Weird song structure as the title suggests.

The bass riff/solo at 5:30 is very nice.

There are some little issues, drums are quite loud and there's some clipping at the end.

Great.

Reminds me of Dream Theater.
