Ello good sir!
Much improvement from your older tunes.
I think this deserves a full length time lapse review.
Here we go...
(0:00 - 0:06/0:08) - I like the intro sound though it's a bit bland and doesn't necessarily do justice to some of the other intricacies that you've thrown into this song. I would probably recommend using maybe a bit more of a harmonic pad or something to give it a little more appeal if you know what I mean, but other than that, it's more than adequate.
(0:08 - 0:19) - This second synth is a little iffy as well, I think it should have a little bit of reverb on it possibly to soften it up, but not so much to the point of where it would muddy up the other sounds in the song, and maybe a fade in on the introduction to the sound, it's a little harsh at first. It's quite unique though, I've never really heard anyone use a melody quite like that, I'm still getting used to it haha.
(0:20 - 0:26) - I absolutely loved the drums in this part, great job on mastering, it's not too powerful, but just enough to get your head nodding a little bit.
(0:27 - 0:51) - I like the little extra kick you added and the variation on the melody during this part, but that pad still really bothers me, I'm not sure why, I would say it probably just needs more harmonic sounds, or it could be the melody, but either way, I would recommend focusing on improving that portion of this tune.
(0:51 - 1:00) - Well I love this build-up during this part, and actually, I think the pad really fits during this part... So I'm thinking it might be the melody at the beginning that I just don't think fits. Anyways, this is where the song really starts to get it's character.
(1:01 - 1:13) - I like that bass sound, I would lower the volume a little bit, or have it fade in, because it's a bit abrupt, but I still like the sound.
(1:13 - 1:17) - I LOVE THE MELODY THAT YOU INTRODUCED HERE! This is where I really started to enjoy the song. The only recommendation that I have is that you add some variation on the melody, like high-high-low-low, then reverse it, so it's 4 measures instead of 2. Then have 2-4 different 4 measure patterns to add interest. But other than that, I really like this part!
(1:18 - 2:01) - This is where my suggestion on the variation of the melodies would come in handy, because this part gets a little bit repetitive.. I love it, but I'm just thinking of the average audience, and they would probably get bored during this section. OH, and while I'm thinking of it, I had an idea for your bassline. It currently sounds like this "low-low-low-low(x2) high-high-high-high(x2)" and I think it would sound better if you did "mid-mid-mid-mid(x2) high-high-high-high(x2) lower-lower-lower-lower(x2)." It would be longer, and it wouldn't seem as repetitive... If you would like me to demonstrate what I mean, you can send me the FL file.
(2:02 -3:02) - Mostly more of the same with variations in placement, but I noticed myself drifting off during this part and imagining some sort of futuristic world. Very interesting...
(3:03 - 3:22) - This part caught my attention, I really enjoyed the switch-up, but I think one of the synths needs their volume to be lowered, cause it gets a bit over driven.
(3:22 - end) - I like how you ended the song, you wrapped it up with the beginning sound, then finished it off with a nice simple, slow phasing melody, though I would recommend one more repetition before the song ends completely.
Well, I think this song is a HUGE improvement for you, and it of course needs some work, but I think you're getting better and better with each song, keep up the good work my friend. I expect you to become a great artist some day, if that's what you want to do... Maybe as a side career. Just practice your mixing and sound matching, and I promise you that you will get better and better with practice. I love your unique style, and look forward to hearing all of your music.
Great work, 5/5 9/10
HELL YEAH! Best review ever!
