Boss Battle [loop]

Well this is my fourth submission made to reflect UnkownXL's requirements for his game. Hopefully he'll like them.

Anyway, his requirements were:
-It had to be a 30 second long loop
-It had to be coherent with a boss battle theme (drama and action)

I'm not too sure about the action bit, but I tried to picture this one in a battle scene... I think it would sound good. What do you guys think? Comments (+ve or -ve) are always welcome ^__^.

Dude, this is fitting.

But where it fits is this: I think it fits just after maybe the destruction of the main character's city, or maybe when the main character is out of commission and the rest of the party has to fight in his place, therefore creating a dramatic air about them. It reminds me of a struggle to keep the will to fight. Great loop. :D

SFaPiL2 responds:

Thanks for the review Goku... sorry for the late reply, I only read it today. Yeah, others have said it sounded more like a boss encounter rather than an actual fight and your example might also work (even though I'd think of something more fast paced and dramatic for a "city-destruction" scene: recall Final Fantasy X, Sin's first attack)

Anyway, thanks for having taken the time to write a helpful review ^_^.

hmm

very nice indeed. I like the melody. very visual! i can actually see a boss fight with this! keep up the good work!

SFaPiL2 responds:

Thank you ^__^.

Wow man.

Such great work you're making now, I love this little loop.
The violins are touching, they harmonize perfectly, the chorus is great, and I like the bells, it just adds that epic sounding touch.

Although this song is absolutely wonderful, I'd have to agree with a review below me, I'm not sure if this is necessarily "boss music." But, I can see it as like a victory screen after defeating the boss. Now, if you were going to make this into a boss battle loop, I would say to add some grimey bass (not too much, but you know what I mean) and some hard hitting drums, with some sort of inspiring, yet dark, synth or guitar. Either way, this is a great loop, and nobody could deny that. Just out of curiousity, how much time did you spend on this little tune? Because whatever you did it turned out perfectly, and you should continue doing it!
Wonderful man, just wonderful.

"Victory screen after defeating the boss":
Seriously? I didn't think of it that way. For some reason the dark sounding brass and the bell sounds gave me the impression of something a bit dark and dramatic.

Thanks for the tips. I've been trying to extend it, but the drums are giving me a hard time. My other big problem now is also finding an alternative melody to add in order to NOT make it repetitive (which I tend to do). I seem to have lost the "inspiration" so to speak :o(.

Answering your question ("how much time...") with complete honesty, it took me around 2 hours to make:
Tulip Town
Tulip Town (2)
Boss Battle [loop]
The Empire's Gates
(another two 'songs' I didn't submit)

I kind of did them in parallel. I tend to go by ear when I make music, so when I was tired of one song I'd go on to making a new one and then (after a while) go back to the previous one or make something else. I don't always have such luck/inspiration, but it happens sometimes ;o).

I have to save her!

Woo, this is what I call a masterpiece, this sounds great, but yeah I agree with them, this is more like the previous talk before the big battle. Something like:

The Bad One: Ha ha ha, I can't believe you Finally showed up.
The Good One: Keep your hands off her!, If you don't, I'm gonna...
The Bad One: WHAT!? YOU CAN'T DEFEAT ME!!!, SHE IS WHAT I NEED TO SAVE MY LEGACY (what a dork xD!), YOU ARE ANYTHING NEXT TO ME!!!, I WILL DESTROY THIS WORLD, AND WITH IT, TO ALL OF YOU DISGRACEFUL HUMAN KIND!!! HA HA HA HA!!!.

Yeah!, Very cool song. Man you shoul be working wit

SFaPiL2 responds:

Ha ha... thanks ^__^.

Yeah, I was trying to make some changes in FL to make become fast paced, but it just sounded bad. I'm out of ideas. Maybe one day I'll come up with something more to add to it.

Thanks for passing by and for the excellent score.

awesome violins

I see this more as a boss encounter
a battle theme would have a fast beat
but I like it so your doing great
also what vst do you use becaused im
desperatly needing some new sounds

SFaPiL2 responds:

True. I'll probably extend this to introduce a fast paced section... the real problem is trying to make it loop well.

The VST I'm using is NEXUS. It has a large set of quality sounds to use.

Thanks for passing by ^__^.
