Peril: Distant Star

This is the second song in my "Peril" series. If you haven't already noticed, the series takes on a space adventure feel. So, expect more in the future!
:::::::::::::
Okay, this next part is EXTREMELY important to understand about this song:
This song, which some have already said is "just a bunch of random melodies thrown together," actually is MADE to be that way. This is by no means typical Drum and Bass; it's kinda more like "Progressive" DnB, taking elements from several sources, including typical DnB, death metal, techno and dance. The one thing I tried to do with the melodies is blend them together as much as possible, such that the TRANSITIONS between each part came as smoothly as butter; I know some of you will have a different opinion, but hey, this song was really not that easy to make! Just realize it took inspiration from guys like Linkin Park, Pendulum, Protest the Hero and even Killswitch Engage.
::::::::::::::::::::::::
So, when judging this song, make sure to pay attention to its QUALITY, its SUBSTANCE, its MUSICALITY, etc., not just if it's YOUR STYLE OR NOT (sorry for the excessive caps btw, i don't want to be banned, but how the hell else am i supposed to get stuff to stick out?? lol).
::::::::::::::::::::::::
Also, notice the differences from this one and the "feedback" version I threw up here a few days ago. I think it's mix is probably superior, although the bass might have been sacrificed just a little ( =`( ). Lemme know your opinion on that so I can fix it for the future! =)
::::::::::::::::::::::::
One final thing: If this song isn't better than my Space Reggae tune soon, I will condemn all the voters on NG. This song is obviously of better quality! It has tons of automation, and I even MASTERED it with the little knowledge I have. C'mon people; that song had "FL Studio" written all over it. If this one has anything generic noticeable in it at all, it's very very small from what I can gather.

The track have a difficult structure. Ok.

You set out to make a different kind of DnB....

... And boy did you! The transitions are almost seamless, such as those in a movie score. I could really see this being the background of a space-racing movie or something. Also, I have never heard a Newgrounds song go from 4/4 to cut time to 6/8 cut time, back to 4/4 cut time, and then back to 4/4! And I had to listen to it a few times to catch them all!

The varying melodies add a story-ish atmosphere, like the varying melodies are telling a story, and that story kicks ass! It reminds me of another great NG song (Buzztone Symphony by Dimrain47) in the way the melody changes so much.

The effects and mastery are wonderful! If the melodic contrast between all the parts wasn't enough, the varying filters and effects make them each unique. The Synths sound dark and heavy, then fast and light, then close and far away, and then the piano comes in and it sounds DIVINE.

P.S. It's much better than the Space Reggae :)

This is great.

That other song (God i dunno the name) that was dub was probably even more cooler. And i rarely like dub. So chew on the ten like its cake and TAKE IT XD

Insanely Catchy

... but could use more melody. The rondo format (order of parts: A, B, A, C, A) is good because otherwise I'd get tired of the main melody/chord progression much sooner, but I felt that the other parts (part B and C) could've been more melodic.

Besides that, this song is perfect. I love the spacey feel to it, the main melody is mindblowingly addictive and the rhythm-work is absolute genius. This is a masterpiece, and this deserves 5,000 downloads. :D

Note: Just to let you know how awesome I think this song is, this is my first comment on Newgrounds. And I've been getting music from here for awhile.

Holy S**t

When I listened to the feedback version I was thinking it was great how it was and didn't need any revamping. Upon listening to this version, my first thought was "Holy S**t!" and throughout the entire song I was thinking "Holy S**T... HOLY S**T!"

I happen to like all the different melodies, btw. It's like the song is telling a story. I've tried experimenting with that myself (though not with electronic music). If I knew how, I'd hack Newgrounds and give this a 7 out of 5 and a 14 out of 10. This is beautiful.

mr-jazzman responds:

Wow, been a while since someone's reviewed this song lol! =D Glad you liked it man. Hey, I think I'm gonna revamp this song even more now, with my improved skill now...and my heavy dubstep influence. ;) Be on the lookout for more awesomeness!
