full title is "one of many resolves and the respite"
i had to under-sample this slightly for it to even FIT on here. even when i chopped up the ending segment, it was still over 8 MB. as a result, the sound quality may suffer very slight optimization deficit, but it shouldn't be too bad.
from my story concept, this is the FOURTH time i've uploaded this, so hopefully i won't need to again. there are two parts to this track, each with a purpose. i'm not sure what the future is with my story, since i'm chaptering it out right now, but i can let loose some spoilers since i doubt i'll ever get the chance to complete it proper.
the first, main part is a battle scene between the heroine and the leader of a small mercenary band. he's much better at what he does than she can even try to be, especially since she still frets over actually fighting to kill someone, despite their intent to do the same to her. the first piece moves the battle forward, but never crosses the line, since the villainous character merely plays along.
the second piece at the end is the result of her loss. judging her worthless as an opponent, he exploits her resistance to kill by using his rapier to, frankly, pull one of her eyes out with its barbed tip. that's where this music follows, as the action has stopped and she's basically in shock. she's screaming in pain, panicking and disoriented before her friends come to her rescue before he can move in to finish her. it is built to linger, having a steady beat and chord progression and could can be extended as needed for such a scene. as i use themes and motifs, there are moments of resemblance to other related songs on purpose.
