Since it's not safe for me to continue posting all my original stuff on NG, I decided to to covers of songs I really like so I can post them without possible regrets for doing so. This song is one that I've liked for a while, ever since I saw the movie Donnie Darko. It was originally done by Tears for Fears and redone in this slower style by Gary Jules for the movie. I was on iTunes a while back and saw an American Idol version of this song and took a listen and I really liked it. So I decided to use some of what was unique about that version for my own cover. Most of it I followed Gary Jules' version, added just a little bit of my own, and finished it the same way as the American Idol version.
I hope you enjoy it :)

All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places, worn out faces
Bright and early for their daily races
Going nowhere, going nowhere
Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression, no expression
Hide my head I want to drown my sorrow
No tomorrow, no tomorrow

And I find it kinda funny
I find it kinda sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very, very mad world mad world

Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday
And I feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen, sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me, no one knew me
Hello teacher tell me what's my lesson
Look right through me, look right through me

And I find it kinda funny
I find it kinda sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very, very mad world ... mad world
Mad world, mad world

Personal Favourite.

Always glad to hear your stuff. I really like the original and Jule's version even more so. Your version was pretty good but there was something in your voice that made it not as good as Jule's. I think it's how you articulate your words, was similar with your Hallelujah cover. Still really awesome, and where would one find your songs not on NG?

Cayler responds:

There are several different places where my music can be heard which can be found in my journal entry. But the one that I keep updated the most is

I find myself browsing through my favorite artists to see who done something new and i fall on this. Glad you posted again, i can understand its not safe to post here. But !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Freakin awesome, the voice is indescribably peaceful again, very talented but im just repeating what you already know.
keep those covers coming,

Cayler responds:

I'm gonna try to make lots of covers to keep new stuff coming all the time. I've got free time right now so I should be able to put stuff out pretty rapidly. I know how happy I am when my favorite artists release new material, so I want to provide that same feeling for people who like my work. :)

This song has been one of my favorites for years. When I heard your rendition of Hallelujah I knew you were a great singer and I liked all of your originals. When I saw this song in your profile just now I lost my shit! It's great! Definitely a 5/5 10/10!

Cayler responds:

Thanks, I'm glad you like my work as well as my covers. :D

Donnie Darko is the best movie ever

Wow, finally someone else who has seen Donnie Darko. My fav. movie, such an awesome movie. Anyways, I picked up this song from there too lol. Good cover. :)

Cayler responds:

Yes, it is a great movie. But I actually didn't get to see it until a few years after it was released.
