Wanderer Above The Sea of Fog

Here's a little somethin' I wrote over the weekend.

Conceptually, it's based on a painting of the same name by German Romantic artist Caspar David Friedrich. There's lots of cool jazz-like harmony, two short keyboard solos, and all that good stuff.

Review, give USEFUL feedback when necessary, forgive the pretentiousness of the concept, and don't hate :)

Nice work, again!

Not much to say on this.
Good job writing in 9/4 without making it obvious. To me, that is the hardest thing of this song. This song really reminds me of the Mars Volta at moments. I really, really enjoyed listen to this. Was the quality supposed to be sorta distorted.
Man, i just can't get over how well you used 9/4. Great.. great job.

Strangely sublime for something so heavy

I would definitely consider this trip hop, and the fact that its so grinding and slow gives a feeling of peacefulness despite it being so heavy, and i really enjoyed that.
my only complaint is that it maybe goes for a bit long, but im biased there because I mostly listen to prog, and this involves a lot of repetition. The solos are solid, tho I wish they were a little slower and longer.
overall I think this could be a little more cohesive and it may be a little jarring, but thats the best I can tell you, I dont know a lot, or any music terminology haha.
it just comes across a bit jarring and disjointed in parts.
What I do like alot are the little triphop tones you tied into the main base line, if u know what i mean. Thats ma stuff.

good painting

Good composition from the beginning. Liked the chorus, its pretty awesome to get inspired by such a painting (thought i was expecting something more peaceful.)

It's a really sublime painting. I'm easily inspired by things like that. Thanks for the review!

Reminds me a bit of Castlevania for some reason. Either way, I really like this. You did a very good job, Adam. To any others listening to this, I suggest to download it and listen to it. A+ my friend.

adompeace responds:

Hehe. Thanks for the review!
