This was supposed to be something for a combat, and I think it has some combative quality, but it is certainly not like any combat song I've heard before. Maybe I'm just not a combative kind of guy. Anyways, I think it turned out O.K. enough.

Instruments used: Big Band Brass, Solo Viola, Solo Violin, Trumpet, Hard Grand Piano, Aah Choir.

You know the drill: please make your criticism constructive. If you really can't help yourself, positive will be allowed as well. (Wow, that sounds cocky. Excuse me.) Well, negative too, but please elaborate exactly what it is that you think could be done better.

P.S. Still the half-a-minute silence afterwards. Still no clue how to cut it away. Help would be highly appreciated.

Sorry, but I really don't see how this could be used in a combat song...
This song is reeeaaally slow for one thing. And there is a lot of empty space with nothing going on. There's also no melody present in the song. Battle songs are usually upbeat for the whole excitement factor and I don't think that's here. This is more of a... walking through a barren mountainside, all by yourself, looking for hope.

ass-scum responds:

Yeah, it does lack a beat and 'sub-tone'. I think my vision in the beginning of the song was kind of lost while ideas for short pieces came to my mind. But I can't really say, for me, that it doesn't hold any tension at all. 'Combat' may not have been the right term to describe it... I just don't know what other word could fit it.

I thought your description at the end of the review was eloquently put, but it also surprised me. It's not really something I would imagine listening to this. Interesting to read, though. Thanks for the review.

Hmm pretty good.

I don't think I'd listen to this in combat though. I usually have my ear plugs in anyway.

ass-scum responds:

Well, thanks. I know 'combat' is not really that great a description, but I'm glad I could at least please your ears with something I composed.
