Mandi and I have recently taken up the 1 hour challenge with each other, where we both sit down for one hour given an image or story, a key, and a lead instrument, and compose away. For this particular verses she was the one who picked out the story and key, lead instrument, which as as follows.

- A vast uncharted forest, dark, mysterious, crawling with strange creatures that no one has seen (or they have seen them and never lived).
- F Minor
- Flute as lead instrument

Because Mandi doesn't have the samples I have, we both used a free soundfont to compose the duels.

The first part is hers, called "A Strange Forest"
The second part is mine, called "Majestic Unknown"

We totally interpreted the image differently as she went for the more adventurous while mine was a much darker, foreboding vibe.

In any case, we hope you enjoy!

Much props

Simply amazing. If this is a duel, I can barely tell where one part begins and ends. It has a fluid transition from light and adventurous to dark and foreboding. This is the scenario in my head:

The hero paraded confidently through the woods. Sunlight cast an emerald glow where it descended through the tall pine trees. With his sword and bow he was prepared to slay any ferocious beast that came his way. But as night drew close and further into the woods he progressed, he began to feel afraid. For this hero was only 5. His bow a plastic hanger and his arrows only sticks. The sword was a rolling pin, caked in flour and worn from use. The small boy cried as he looked up at the moon. The forest had claimed him and now he was lost, and he knew that it was there that he would die.

Both

The first part is the adventurer walking through the forest, walking deeper and deeper, not thinking anything of it. The second part is them realizing they've gone too far, and they may never make it back.

For a change

I rather liked Mandi's at 0:28, reminded me of a march of several merry adventurers, fully prepared for anything, then the Majestic Unknown almost transitions into a lost traveler, stuck at a dark crossroad, when the flute kicks in at 1:39, earning him a guaranteed spot for the death-list, and he looses hope, sits down, and tries to fall asleep. Quite a story for one hour :D

loved both but...

ayyy selcuk wins definately captures the essence of the potential of a forest to hide all the deep and dark things in the world while tempting to adventure alittle firther with that sweet sweet promise of false glory and honor... w00t go 9th grade english lol freshman = me haha. : ( oh wells sux for me loved the selcuk part though i did enjy mandi's adventryness parts mind if i use this in my game(see reviews under Mediavle Wars song for explanation)

Tough Choice

Both of these pieces of music are absolutely superb. I can't vote in good conscience for either one. :( Personally, I feel that Mandi hit the Enchanted Forest trope perfectly- you know, magical unicorns and such, with her more upbeat soundtrack, while you hit the Mirkwood-type forest - dark, and brooding.

Anyway, regards.
