I've been using fruity loops 8 for about 3 days. I am currently pretty clueless on how to use most of the features, bar the playlist, channel selector and mixer(which i only know the basics of) This is just a piano and strings song I made in a day, its not 'sposed to be good, Im uploading it for feedback and advice.

I tried to make the drums a bit experimental and away from the norm, I hope for a complete newb I have done this to at least an ok standard. Be as hard as you want on me, I dont care I just need some tips ect.

Three days?

For three days, this is pretty decent, good sir. The song itself isn't groundbreaking or inspiring, but you've got what it takes to get better.

Now, onto actual crit.

The bass is way too high. It's drowning out the melodies, should lower that. The drums seem overpowering too, but it was a nice detail, I was actually surprised to hear drums on this. I can tell that you like glitching, it's pretty decent. The melody is too repetitive and lacks the variation a 4-minute track needs though.

You actually remind me of a guy called Nubbinownz here. Keep practicing and you're gonna get great someday.

z-bentinel responds:

Hey thanks for the tips, I was wondering if you mean just lower the volume of the bass? or if there are any dial that I can tweak to make it more subtle, I've been playing around with the song and I've improved it slightly so far and Ive had a play with the bass, but I still need to get used to making it sound the right level.

and yeah the drums are too high I think, but thanks for the honesty, I'm probably going to add a few more synth and piano parts in for the variation (maybe some sort of breakdown) and re-upload it at a later date.

and thanks for the ending remark. Ill go check that guy out.

Pretty Good

for three days. I don't think it's perfect, but it is a really good song, and I think that you, as a person, have plenty of potential.

z-bentinel responds:

hey thanks for the review. Yeah I know I have a lot to do on my fl skills, but its all practice and experience, so Ill just keep going.

Only 3 days? Still pretty nice!

I kinda like it, but the tune doesn't maintain. Prehaps try some FL studio tutorials? I have a feeling you can really progress :)
