Review please!

***EDIT 07/05/09: Changed the title. It's now "Divine Comedy I: Inferno" not "In Hades." DJOrsa pointed out that it sounds like a tone poem for Dante's Inferno and thought that was more appropriate.***

Composed in one day, on a boring Sunday. Evidence of influence from Bach, Dream Theater, and Mussorgsky, particularly "Night on Bald Mountain." In case you don't know, the title refers to the section of Dante's Divine Comedy, a masterpiece of Italian literature about a journey through hell (this section), limbo, and heaven. READ IT! In this part, Dante is taken through hell with Virgil as his guide. At the end, they reach the very bottom, where it's ice-cold and where Satan resides and their journey through Purgatorio begins. Apocalyptic synth bells kick off the the piece and it eventually goes into a fugal passage, with countermelodies representing the demons of the underworld worshipping Hades.

I've read the poem and...

It's definitely fitting. Amazing. Great poem. Great song. Downloaded, Favorited, and Rated. xD

13/8.. Daaamn, son. Lol.
Nice work, I like the dark feel.

Those bells sound like madness personified, heh.
00:43, I like the rhythms along with the percussive stuff at 0:55. Have you read the Inferno by Dante?

This song oozes that book, lol. I can imagine being ferried across the river Styx from 1:30 to 3:00. You know, looking around as you spiral downwards to the endless abyss, haha.

5:55 is epic. I've said this before, but your keyboard shredding is the SHIT.
Nice creepiness at 6:10. Really, really, really cool. Very eerie sounding. Perfect. Perfect chord changes and instrumentation. Cool lead-in at 6:40. I would have made that grace note/short note a tad longer leading into the ending.

7:14 is really cool. Sounds like lifting your head up slowly as you see Lucifer chained to hell for the first time; fear, shock, awe, ... all that mess, haha (Read the Inferno, haha).

One thing that strikes me about nearly every one of your songs: Although many are long, I never lose interest. That is a talent that many musicians wish they had. You are able to keep the interest of the audience unfailingly!

I love this!!!!! Its awesome, very original sounding!! Its goin on my ipod! Ill vote 5 on it everyday. lol

Sorry but Hades isn't Satan Hades was only the god of the underworld who made sure the the souls of the people went into a after life.

Anyway good song. but doesn't sound evil enough to be Hades song.

I still like the song. awesome Melody

adompeace responds:

He did that too but, ultimately, when he and his brothers and sisters defeated the Titans, Hades was given control of the underworld, while Zeus got the sky and Poseidon got the sea so technically, he IS the ruler of the underworld, which is what Satan is in the modern world.

Glad you liked the song still.
