Solus- Duet in C Minor

185 bpm!

First, where this song came from. I was trying to do something for Zero123music's Piano Collab in A minor, but I ended up changing the key signature about fifteen minutes into working to get it to mesh with the idea I had in my mind.

Second: How to play it.

It's written in the form of a duet, however, there are five distinct parts:
1. The high, complex notes
2. The melody
3. The ostinato
4. Second ostinato
5. Bass!

How it works is such:

Measures 1-16: First pianist plays the high, complex notes and the main melody. Second pianist plays the ostinato + bass.
17-25: Since there's no melody at this point, first pianist plays high, complex notes and bass. Second pianist plays both ostinatos.
26-35: First pianist plays melody, second plays alternating ostinatos and bass.
36-43: First pianist plays high, complex notes. Second pianist plays bass and ostinatos.
44-65: First pianist plays ostinato+bass to end of measure 53, quick one-measure high, complex on measure 54, full measure rest, continue ostinato and bass to end of song. Second pianist plays melody from measure 44 to end of 61, two measure rest, then the final high, complex notes at measure 63.

Did that help? :D

En garde, touche, with a hint of coup de grace.

This piece sounds quite nice. Everything just seens to flow, and the entire rushing feeling of the piano at times, along with a great beat makes this piece excellent for a battle situation. I'd love to play this...but my skills are nowhere NEAR yours, that, I say. Keep up the good work!

SolusLunes responds:

Would you believe that I can't actually play the piano? :D

it was ok

It sounded uninspired to me, though that's just my opinion, and I don't really hear any classical elements in this piece, another disappointment. I think it gets pretty repetitive and boring. I also think it sounds like a techno/electronica genre, but with a piano instead of the synths.

A good composition, but I don't like it that much, so I'll grade on effort.

SolusLunes responds:

Again, it's the result of about an hour tooling around on the piano. Ah well.

Battle
