Other - Funk

Author Comments

Well funk doesn't exactly fit this song, but it was a tie between that and DnB seeing as NG has yet to add a breakbeat category...

Though I'm sure you all probably don't care about any of that...

This song is fairly self explanatory. You know that feeling of uncontrollable joy and excitement you get when you finally work up the courage to ask a girl/guy out on a date? You're sure that their going to say no, more than sure. You go through every worst-case-scenario in your head time after time.

Then they say yes.

You're on top of the world, joyous, invincible, infallible...

Enjoy the song.

PS: If you don't like it, that's cool, but drop a review to tell me how I can improve in any way.

Good length. I was expecting more. It's very Herbie Hancock-ish (rockit) I can sense a celebration. Going on in here, but still, a little more emotion would've been nice. A few noices seemed out of place too, I would tell, but I don't know what to call that noise (like Mario going down a tube?) 3/5 7/10

Fuiste responds:

Eh, I kinda like that noise you're referring to. (It's a 3xosc, saw-saw-pulse) But I guess we'll agree to disagree. Still, I'm glad you liked the song, and I'm always grateful for reviews!

1:25-2:10 made me style as it started and how it finished and all inbetween, i do not know why but it just did.
the rest of song was great also, i am now thinking not to enter this competion with the song i made.... =/

Fuiste responds:

Thanks for dropping a review, and I'm especially glad you liked the little break in the middle, as that was added in near the end of production on this song. I needed to add more variety so I threw in that reverby percussion break. I though it turned out well, but I am glad that I'm not the only one.

Much thanks for taking the time to review my stuff!

Got style

If this song was in a movie. It would be just after the girl said yes. Picture yourself in a couple of different scenes, walking slomo with a big smile on your face. Hehe well that's just my vision though. I really like those "little 8-bit-ish low beeps/divebombs" you put in. Great little touches here and there.

Fuiste responds:

Our visions are one in the same, i think. That's exactly how I viewed this song when I was making it. As always, thanks much for taking the time to review my music, it's much appreciated, and I'm happy that you enjoyed the piece!

5/5 10/10 woot uplifting.

If I had just proposed and she said yes, I'd definately be on cloud nine all day, and I'd be listening to something upbeat like this.... :D great job!

Fuiste responds:

Awesome, that's exactly what I was going for. Glad you liked the song, and thanks much for the review!

Triumphant, cool as hell, but also joyous.

And that's the most important thing, at least for this MAC. The most significant thing about this song is the fact that it has a surprising amount of variety.

However, one thing that stands out for me is that while it's joyous and triumphant, it's not romantically joyous. But on it's own, without the Mac part factored in, this song is cool as shit. I could strut to this song. I'm tempted to download it just for that lol.

I'm just worried that Darkside won't deem it to fit with the theme of this month's MAC. It happened to many a great piece last time.

I like the sound fx you used in this song too.

The ending was way too abrupt though. You should have let the song slowly settle down, or end with a bigger finish, ya know?

Good song though. And it has an amazing rating too. Keep it up and peace!

Fuiste responds:

Thanks much for the review, I'm always glad when someone likes my music! I also see what you're saying with the not so much romantically joyous aspect of the song... Yeah, it doesn't exactly drip romance, but I was going for a more upbeat approach to the MAC, seeing as just about every entry so far was a slow, depressing love song. Not too joyous. I tried to hit the scenario that I described in my author comments.

But to make a long story short, I see exactly where you're coming from.

In other news, if the sound FX you're referring to are those little 8-bit-ish low beeps/divebombs, then that's just a monotonic, low pass filtered 3xosc. Never underestimate the immense power of that little synth for creating just about everything short of a pad, especially when you realize that it can use the special sytrus and HQ wave shapes in FL.

But I get too caught in my rants...

Thanks for the review!
