Ahh, where to start.

Well, i think it's obvious that the best element of this song is the percussion, which i don't think could have been better,so fantastic job on that. Wouldn't change a thing there.

Now, the melody itself... How to say it. It's almost as if ther ISN'T a melody. It's sort of a mix between melody/ambient. I took off a point for that. This song doesn't really have a spot to fit in. I don't think you would simply listen to this on an ipod, but it doesn't seem like it would fit for a video game.

I like the sounds you used, however, the rythms were suprisingly calming, which gives a nice feeling to the song. 9/10, 5/5

Thanks for reviewing Surf King. I'm glad the percussion stood out as this project was originally conceived as an exercise in drum programming within Reason. As far as melody is concerned, this was written as a musical bed to play under narration, hence the lack of a strong melody line which can compete with the dialog. Segments of this song were used to open and close and for transitions within a show on Oregon PBS which focuses on "extreme" travel. Thanks again for the very constructive review.
