JD - Umbrella Acoustic

I did this quite a while ago, while the original song was still in the charts, but I recently found it and thought I would upload it for you guys to have a listen and see what you think.

The drums I used are very, very basic (made it Reason), it was more something just to help me keep in time, I'd like to go back and randomize the velocities of each hit and mix it up a bit to try and make them sound more realistic and authentic, but that means finding the .rsn file on my old hard drive!

For those who are wondering, the guitar track was recorded with my American Glen Campbell Ovation Acoustic (1979 I believe), I forget what mic I used though! Both guitars rhythm and lead are played by me, and that lame excuse for a drum track was also sequenced by me.

Enjoy, and all reviews/votes are appreciated :)

Muchos Gracious (I can't spell in spanish).

My basic point is... thankyou for this awesome spanish sounding Rhianna track :)
It sounds really good.
Have a nine.

SupJD responds:

Thanks bonecollecta! I really am glad you enjoyed listening to it :)

I'll take your 9 happily!

Quite a compelling mix, my friend. Simple drums are never a thing to be ashamed of, and the guitar playing sounds insanely professional. None of the average and annoying little screw-ups too insignificant for an amateur to go back and fix. Fav'd, and rightfully so.

Y'know, this is one of those things I never thought I'd hear. It sounds great. Actually, the acoustic guitar works a lot better for the lead line than one might have thought.

SupJD responds:

Cheers man! It's great to know that people can appreciate song adapations, and not instantly dismiss it. Glad you enjoyed it!

good work. I like your chord progression, and pretty decent sound quality. The drum loop doesnt sound too bad either, did u use a Dr. Rex loop or did u use a drum machine to make it urself?

SupJD responds:

thank you for your review mate :)

and answering your question - i used redrum, just put a few basic drum samples through each channel and that was it, and if i remember correctly (and by listening to it again), i dont even think i put any reverb on the drums which is pretty shocking!! its just got whatever reverb is in the recorded .wav sample
