This is a rough MIDI to MP3 conversion of a piano duet I created back in 2005-2006 on Finale Notepad, from under the same name.
Personally, I think the midi version sounds much cleaner (less puffy) and even a little more potent on separating out the quicker notes (i.e. sixteenth note triplets sometimes sound like quarter notes).

This particular song I'm perfectly fine if others toss around on the internet, as long as credit isn't stolen from myself for composing this fun little piece.

Credits to Hamienet for providing the MIDI to MP3 conversion service.

Anyhow, this piece was an experiment to see about dividing up my habit of creating a one instrument piece with the occasional two or three melodies popping in and out. Composed in part by ear, and another part from the musical education I received from my 4 years of Concert Band and 5 of choir experience beforehand, this work took about 3-4 separate days, and roughly 14-16 hours to tweak and complete.

The title, "Surrounded and Alone" came from how I imagined the melody once it took form. Although the original idea is now partly lost from thy memory, what I can recall was that it was of a lone swordsman fighting and struggling to break out of a dense circle of archers and crossbowmen. Occasionally getting stabbed by an arrow or bolt (and stepping over a dead friend) or two) as he lashed back out at them trying to escape, but ultimately...(s)he gets stuck through the chest/heart, falls to their knees, looks toward their previously fallen comrades with a tear in his/her eye, before finally dying.

There's also a variation where a girl running through a 'haunted' location, trying to find someone to run to for comfort, however all that she seemingly comes across is various terrifying events and lonely doubts.
