What if there was one last act to the Ice Cap Zone?
There's the doctor again, plotting his scheme for world domination but Sonic cannot let this happen.
It all starts with a visitation of the icy lairs of the Ice Cap Zone where the blue blur finds Eggman trying to secure success by reviving his top lairs with the help of the Chaos Emeralds. The cold breeze winds back into his quills as he travels the freezing tunnels in search for his adversary.

This song was probably one of my most worked on. It doesn't feel complete, so I may go back and add onto it.

Song Specs:
Key: C Minor
BPM: 130
Instruments used:
2 basses,
2 strings,

Number 19 on the list? Incredible! :P Thank you a lot NG and everyone who reviewed the song and voted on it. This is very meaningful to me as a musician to see it in the Top 30 of the Audio portal!

I really love Ice Cap Zone song ever since I've could remember the first time I've played Sonic 3. You've certainly cranked up the level of epic on this one.

Haha. Thanks man.

Great job.

I really enjoyed listening to this submission. It was really upbeat and fun to listen to. You did a great job on the video game/Sonic feel with this submission. The song itself never got boring or never really slowed down to be honest. You had a great variety of instruments too, which only helped your cause.

This also sounds like it would make great credits for a flash submission whether it be a game or a movie. Almost the your happy, but also sad that it's finally over type of credits if that makes sense. I also think that the fade out at the end worked really good with the song.

If this submission were ever released as part of a flash that'd just make my day. One thing I was trying to generate was that flow of energy that you're getting, and I'm glad I was able to. The fade out at the end was really unplanned though for the most part. Originally I envisioned the piece being longer but I slowly grew to the fade and it stayed with the piece. Glad it still worked well with the piece. :P

Thanks for the review Corky52!

What could be missing is the background of the second act. You hear it faintly in the main part of the song. The intro is great, adding your own interpretation in it. I think if (i dunno if im allowed to reference...) arcanedragon-2004 and his Ultimate S&K and S3 Medley, @ 1:40 he nails that small detail that makes ice cap zone. Try to emphasis certain parts of the song to make it stand out.

Still, yours is a great iteration of Ice Cap Zone, keep it up.

LightKeeper responds:

I see what you're talking about. That part comes in way at the end. I always planned to do more with this but my brain dried up so i was never able to add more to it. So while that may, in a way, be missing, adding it to other parts of the song may take away from its uses within the main course of the song and within the fading outro.

Thank you for the review and insight though mjuicebar!

there are 2 different things you could do that could fix this, both involve duplicating an instrument

either make another copy of your low bass distorted thing, or your synth, and get rid of some of the reverb, and eq it high from 400Hx to about 2300Hz
compress the shit out of it, sidechain it to the rest of your instruments (maybe not the synth strings) and then make it come in at around 18 and fade in, to the point at around :37 where it would play that sweet lead tune you got going on there.

heck, i got time this week, i dont know if you wanna give it up, but I wouldnt mind makin a revamp pof it, asnd send it back to you to submit, just put my name in the comments? eh? eh?

i dont know how good i could do, but i think it wouldbe fun to give a try, since your composition is pretty freakin awesome, just needs mixing

LightKeeper responds:

I could give let you have a crack at it if you'd like.
However, I'm not too interested in a resubmission however. I'd probably update this current submission and edit the comments w/ credit given where due to you if you produced a higher quality result. I reall do appreciate the asking to work on this piece. It means I did something right in there.

If you want to talk further on this PM me.

but it's missing something, something small that would only just add to the excellence

great job!

LightKeeper responds:

Yeah, something...
