Piano in WTF Minor

I just needed confirmation that I could actually finish a piece. And I did. I hope you enjoy this and take a careful listen to some cool repeating motives and interesting tidbits in this because if you listen to it as you would elevator music, it will sound like aimless wandering, which is not the point : )

An interesting note is that this stemmed from a solo I was going to use for some techno or hardstyle stuff when I decided on a whim to see what the solo would sound like on the piano and thus it was... just like that!

As a classical fugue, it's a little lacking, but it's very pleasing to the ear, especially with the odd accidentals and deceptive progression at the end. I like it very much! Some study of theory and you'd be a master. :)

not bad

I got what I expected from the "wtf minor".
I can't tell what key that is. and i have perfect pitch... but i'm not that good with multiple sharps/flats (this sounds like flats) anyways.

but it sounds like a harpsichord.

Very Nice

This song sounds like it belongs in a horror film, and believe me, thats a good thing in my opinion. It sounds somewhat eerie while at the same time...elegant. Certain parts reminded me of Halloween or Friday the 13th, so great job.

Gozchev responds:

Yea, I get that feeling too at some parts, thanks!

uve got some potential

wonderful piece, although i expected a little more chromaticism from the title, you definatly didnt seem to be afraid to use some odd accidentals, you should check out some of Shoenberg's songs, you definatly seem like a 12-tone kind of writer from what this song suggests. keep up the good work

Gozchev responds:

Thank you, I'll go ahead a give a listen to some Shoenberg!

Nice Attempt

I see that this is a contemporary Baroque-esk composition. The Fugue I assume you attempted lacks an exposition, and pedal-point, episodes are lacking as heard with a pause, it would have been more suitable to just insert an inversion or retrograde inversion. However this is contemporary and there are no rules, I enjoyed the song. Although a little hollow at times, such at the end, I hear just a 1 and 5 maybe an 8th. If you are to do another fugue may I recommend you focus a little more on the counter-melody to add more variety. Nice song though!

Gozchev responds:

Awesome! Thank you! I was thinking almost the same things if not in more simpler terms as I reviewed the end-result. I had not even considered this a classical fugue as i mentioned above, it had originally been a techno solo and more specifically it was comprised of the notes that would be played by the right hand on the piano. When I get around to writing a true classical piece I will definitely use your advice! I may even re-write this song in a more classical form, though it might be a little hard as I don't have any serious music theory background (like classes or study) : ( Thank you!
