I set out to write a "massive overture" to promote my skills this summer, trying to become employed as a composer for an indie game. My plans changed somewhat during the actual composing and this was the end result. The last part of this introduction is also featured in another song of mine and acts as a theme for a greater role playing game soundtrack I'm writing a song for every now and then.

* Instruments *
2 horn sections
2 trumpet sections
Tubular bells
Orchestral harp
First violins
Second violins
+ a lush choir pad and various percussion.

I hope you enjoy it, however, should you want to use it for anything, please contact me first. (No worries, I will most likely allow it; just want to knowwhere I might hear it ;-) )

I like it.

It's pretty good, but you had alot of potential lost by lack of percussion. You had hint of it with your timps but for the strength of the symphony is called for just as strong percussion.

Nice one though. 8/10, 4/5.

Pomerance responds:

Maybe you are right... I didn't really think of any more fitting percussions though (well, maybe some bass drums and the occassional triangle, but I don't really see ie. a snare in this composition); what is your opinion on this? Taikos perhaps?

a job well done

Nice intro. (Really epic notes)
It reminded me for a second to "Flashdance...What a Feeling" from Irene Cara.
But it changes.. and in a real good way. Nice slow and you feel that the music lives.

This proves that making music is not about having the most expensive (best) music samples.

Try to stay on this way of working... it's not about the amount of songs, but about the songs. :-)

Pomerance responds:

Haha, that is really funny that you point that out. I actually did write a song that did go pretty much like that one (What a Feeling) ago. It's annoying to find out that you accidentally have copied something. Anyways, I personally don't find this track very much like that one, but maybe I have a subconcious obsession to writing that theme :-P

About the samples, they actually are quite expensive, but yeah, I get what you mean (most samples in this song is from the special edition of the Vienna Symphonic Library that ships with the Kontakt sampler).

Oh yes, and thanks for the pleasing words!

really good

Nice use of instruments and it really pulled me into the song. i hope you hired

Pomerance responds:

Unfortunately I was not... I never even got a response from them after sending in two exclusively composed demo songs.
Oh well, I guess I might post them up in the coming days as well.
