Well, I've been working on this for the better part of November, hence the title. I've put a lot of work into this and I'd like to get some comments back on it. I think the progression of the songs represents the mood I've been in as college begins to wind down and whatnot. I couldn't really think of any other title. I had it as "Wading through November" at one point, but I didn't think that it worked. I am sort of satisfied with the title now, but meh.

Anyways, this is more of a melodic trance track with some ambience added in, mixed with some orchestral parts. I'm beginning to meld each genre I feel semi-comfortable in together. I spent a fair amount of time mixing the track, so comments on that would be more than welcome. I also tried to pan everything to loosen up the sonic spectrum for other instruments.

All in all, I love where this track ended up and I'm excited to see if people like it. Enjoy guys. Also, if you want a HQ version (320 kbps), feel free to PM me for a link.

Please vote fairly, thanks in advance for any comments.

Perfect mood!

Wow. Awesome work.
Great build-up the whole song through.
The theme really fits this time of the year, I must agree.
Don't really know any constructive criticism I can write. It's just way awesome.

Anyhow, great work! Keep it coming!

Definitely a download for me. :)

Unique effort!

I definitely liked the ideas behind this the first time I heard it, and your transition out of the waves by sidechaining it was very creative, if a bit awkward for the first few measures until you toned them down a bit.

The song length doesn't lend itself to being an actual trance song, per se, since it's too long to be a radio edit and doesn't have the structure of a full mix, but it's perfect for what you were going for, I think, and it's an excellent hybrid of electronic music & traditional instrumentation. I don't know what to call it-- and that's a good thing! It doesn't sound like every other song in the NG category.

So I'm not going to critique it as if it were a full-out trance song, because it's different. It's better in its own context, I think, and I really do like the structure. When the base slowly phases back in starting at 3:46, and you added more instrument layers at 4:00 to distinguish it from the earlier section-- that turned out really well. Kudos!

I don't know about anyone else...

but I like it. I like how you combined genres, and I thought they fit together pretty well. I liked the waves effects, but I was sort of surprised when you sidechained them to the kick. Never heard of that before. Anyway, the panning was nice, and nothing here hurt my ears. I don't have any constructive criticism, so all I can say is good luck in the Trancegiving contest!

SinJim responds:

Thanks for the comments, Lamp. I'm glad you liked it and hopefully others will as well. We'll see though. Also, when I idechained the waves, I was first thinking about what I could do to add to that next section. I tried it and really liked how it sounded, very different. So I'm glad to hear that you noticed that. Thanks again for the review!
