While tweaking with "Earth to Guitar" I had some lo-fi guitar riffs I originally wanted to incorporate into the track but they ended up on the cutting room floor, so to speak. But I liked how the effect sounded to my ears so I reserved them for future creations.
So one day I got to work on a song with said riffs but I was stymied on how to proceed because of the harsh tone it produced, which made it difficult to incorporate. Then it hit me one day as I watched the classic movie "Bladerunner." As I watched I suddenly wanted to capture that gritty future noir and that sad ethereal space/electronic like quality it seemed to hint now and then. Especially with the sad end of Rutger Hauer's character, the replicant Roy Batty, and his calm telling of the wonders he saw to Decker, just before he dies. So putting the DVD on "repeat" I got to work. As a result, I ended up expressing this in another unique fashion.
How you wonder? Well you've heard of the rock ballad style that is used to express emotional tributes, so why not an electronica ballad version of that as well, Bladerunner style?
So listen in, enjoy and let yourself dream of electronica rock and roll. And watch out for folks who want to give you Voight-Kampff tests and free retirements... ^_^;
