So, like, a long time ago, I was in this competitive, one-hour-long music-making competition called Kwakfest. Jake Kaufman, the genius behind the soundtrack of Contra 4 and www.vgmix.com, and his buddies, used to hold these contests all the time on his IRC server. So this one dude who's name eludes me right now did a short piano piece called As Long as My Dick, playing the melody that you're hearing now, and wrote lyrics in an accompanying text file, about how his dick was as long as bananas, bottles of soda, and the piano--he did this as an entry into the Kwakfest and it totally ruled. I totally loved it more than my own submission and voted for it. I think it won.
Anyway, years later I had the idea of trying to avoid getting a real day job by being a children's musician. You know, going to pre-schools and playing for kids and shit. I thought it would be a lark, and a hilarios joke that only I would get, if I were to arrange As Long as My Dick for guitar, write new lyrics that would be suitable for children, and actually sing them instead of just writing them down in a text file and instructing my audience to imagine them sung to the song's melody, as its original creator had. And there you have it: A Song About Measurement.
