Dinians Lament

Author Comments

Dinian is the son of the twisted leader of the Fugetti tribe, Mish. Dinian himself is not evil as a child, but when he witnesses the death of his father at the hands of the "hero" Stalte, he begins to dement. He eventually finds his way to Earth before the great civil war that ends up tearing the world apart. There, he fails to achieve anything even close to resembling vengance, and is crushed without even truly being attacked. What happens to him after the end of the war is unknown until a much later date. This is his lament, during/following his father's death.

Hmm...

I can't say it's the BEST song I've heard but I do enjoy it from a sense of nostalgia. The strings clash a bit in the beginning but I think I like that mostly because I grew up on SNES RPG's with that oh so required tower dungeon thing. XD If you're going for that old devilish creepiness sound then I think you've got it! I'd recommend throwing an organ of sorts in there though, that always amps up the creepy factor. All personal opinions mind you. ^_^ Keep workin' hard!!! ^_^

Dufanzy responds:

Thanks for the input. I did want it to seem very devilish and weird at first. The "clashing" is meant to be there. I wanted to let the 'thinness' of the texture make the chord kinda uncertain. The dissonance seems even creepier because it's just two notes only a half step apart, with nothing else to reference from, with only one single note before it. I would add an organ, and I may do so on another piece, but I wanted a string only piece, and, for some reason, felt this was the best. It was a decision made on the fly, but I like it. I think the organ will be used more for his failure later, to add in the anger of his own failure, on top of this and a lot else that happens in the story up to that point.

Again, thanks for the input. ^_^
